Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cletus McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramsy Ricochet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Merle Haggard - Okie From Muskogee. Ramsy Ricochet will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ricochet fails with the takedown.

McDonald feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ricochet is looking to stand back up but McDonald counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ricochet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McDonald throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ricochet is trying desperately to improve position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ricochet keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
McDonald takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McDonald avoids the attempt from Ricochet to control.
Ricochet stops McDonald from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Ricochet wants to control but McDonald is having none of it.

This is a sustained period of stalling by McDonald .

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ricochet avoids a series of strikes thrown by McDonald .

McDonald seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ricochet for as long as he can get away with.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



McDonald drives through with a takedown into guard.
McDonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ricochet is trying to control the position but McDonald postures up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McDonald controlling his opponent.
We've been informed that Ricochet has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Cletus McDonald overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McDonald avoids the attempt from Ricochet to control.

McDonald scoring with strikes but Ricochet is staying in there.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


McDonald swings for the body but Ricochet moves out of range.

Ricochet gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A lull in the action here as McDonald stalls from top position.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because McDonald is stinking the place up with his stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonald misses with the ground and pound.
McDonald is staying tight to Ricochet's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Ricochet is looking for a sweep.

McDonald controls the position from side control.

McDonald is trying to get an arm triangle but Ricochet is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McDonald bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McDonald takes a little break here. Ricochet wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ricochet pushes McDonald away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McDonald gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McDonald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Cletus McDonald is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ramsy Ricochet has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Monteiro swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Omega feinted with a counter takedown.
Monteiro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Monteiro moves in looking to clinch but Omega pushes him off.
Monteiro lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Omega has taken the fight to the clinch.
Omega tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Omega tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Monteiro smiles and moves away.

Omega drives through and clinches with Monteiro against the cage.
Omega tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Monteiro just stands there and leans against the cage.

Omega pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Monteiro looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Monteiro throws a right and a left that Omega avoids nicely.

Oooooh!!! Monteiro has knocked Omega down with a huge combo! Monteiro steps away and waves a wobbly Omega back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Britz Omega has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Monteiro . Omega does a little dance to reset his feet.
Omega shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Monteiro sprawls well. Monteiro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Omega gets slowly back to his feet.
Monteiro throws a series of punches but Omega avoids them all with ease.
Omega tries to score a power double leg takedown but Monteiro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Omega somewhat.
Monteiro cracks Omega with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Omega looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Monteiro is fending him off so far but Omega persists. Nope, Monteiro circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Monteiro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Omega moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Monteiro looks to move away, Omega throws a big counter combo but Monteiro just gets out of the way.
Joshua Monteiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Omega tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Monteiro defends well and Omega ends up having to push Monteiro into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Omega has a takedown stuffed.
Monteiro dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Monteiro catches Omega with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Omega forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

After the fight, Joshua Monteiro was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.

Light is breathing heavily.
Toten throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lights head.
Toten is working Light over against the cage.
Toten digs a right hand into Light's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Light's gas tank.
I was talking to Light's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Toten lands with a left to the head.
Toten lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Light backwards.
Toten lands a hook that snaps the head of Light backwards.
Toten leaning his opponent against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
