And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kei Noguchi!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noguchi goes for a double leg but Johns avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Johns continues to drive forward.
Johns is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Noguchi.
Good work by Noguchi as he checks the leg kick.

Noguchi jumps guard and drags Johns to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Johns manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Johns. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johns jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Noguchi walks away with a smile on his face. Johns gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Johns goes for a double leg but Noguchi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Noguchi continues to drive forward.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Horrible takedown attempt by Noguchi or perhaps it was just good defense by Johns, which made it look bad.

Johns on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Johns is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Johns is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Noguchi is defending well though. Johns let's go of the attempt for now.

Johns is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Noguchi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Noguchi for a finish.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Noguchi is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Johns gets his way!

Johns is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Noguchi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Noguchi for a finish.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jimmy Johns will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Noguchi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Noguchi throws a sloppy head kick and Johns moves out of range easily.
Johns went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Noguchi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johns.

Noguchi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johns circles away quickly and effectively.

Kei Noguchi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Noguchi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Prevot is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Benneson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prevot gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Prevot has an Americana. Benneson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Prevot is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Prevot hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Chan feints and then cracks Rounded's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rounded down.
Nice shot by Chan.
Chan lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Rounded takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Chan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Rounded has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rounded there as he acknowledges the shot.

Rounded closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rounded lands in his opponent's guard.
Chan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rounded pushes down on Chan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chan wants to get back to full guard but Rounded has mounted him!
BOOM! Rounded connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Rounded tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rounded wants to finish this one by submission but Chan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rounded.

Chan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Chan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rounded on the ground.

Rounded is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Chan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Chan shrugs it off.
Rounded is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Rounded sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rounded cracks Chan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rounded.

Chan has left one of his arms exposed and Rounded doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Chan screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Gendozo misses with a straight left.
Gendozo moves in looking to clinch but Bordel pushes him off.
Bordel feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gendozos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looks like Leoncio Gendozo has been cut.
Bordel lands a head shot.

Bordel moves into the clinch.
Bordel wants to take the fight to the mat but Gendozo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gendozo is looking for a takedown.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gendozo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bordel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gendozo on the ground.

Bordel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gendozo in his tracks.

Gendozo waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Bordel. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Bordel to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gendozo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Oh Bordel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gendozo arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Bordel's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

After winning the bout, Leoncio Gendozo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
