Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Ryan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lynn Padorca! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan tries to clinch but Padorca moves out of range. Padorca throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range. Ryan wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Ryan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Padorca gets a double leg takedown into Ryan's guard. Ryan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ryan keeping moving, preventing Padorca from controlling successfully. Padorca preventing the sweep. Ryan trying to strike off his back.
Padorca engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Padorca postures up.
Ryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Padorca wants to pass the guard but Ryan is keeping the position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Ryan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Padorca controls the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Padorca misses with a straight right. Ryan moves to clinch but Padorca breaks away and Padorca counters with a shoot takedown. Ryan fights it but they end up in guard. Padorca preventing the sweep. Padorca wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving. Ryan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Padorca trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Padorca stands up over Ryan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Padorca postures up.
Ryan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Padorca is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ryan. Padorca wants to control but Ryan is keeping him busy. Padorca lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Padorca scoring with punches from side control. You can see the frustration on Ryan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Padorca is looking to take a break and control but Ryan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Padorca content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Padorca trying to control the action but Ryan is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Padorca controlling the position from side mount. Padorca lands a nice forearm strike. Padorca grinds an elbow into Ryan's temple. You can see the frustration on Ryan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ryan wants to clinch but Padorca slips to the side and Padorca counters with a shoot takedown. Ryan fights it but they end up in guard. Padorca connects with a couple of short punches. Padorca showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Padorca trying to control but Ryan is working from the bottom. Padorca's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryan trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ryan has control of Padorca's left arm, preventing Padorca from doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A head kick by Ryan misses and Padorca counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ryan wants to improve his position but instead Padorca has moved into half guard.
Padorca controlling the action here. Padorca trying to control from half guard but Ryan is working away. Ryan wants to control but Padorca is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Padorca is keen to just control but Ryan is a slippery customer. Ryan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Padorca pulls his head out easily. Padorca lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ryan won't allow Padorca to pass to mount. Ryan is pressing down on Padorca's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Padorca scoring with some ground and pound. Ryan wants to sweep here but Padorca controlling him for the moment. Padorca wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Padorca is in close to Ryan's body, working some short punches and elbows. Padorca connects with a couple of short punches. Ryan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Padorca is adopting a defensive guard. Ryan advances to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryan controlling the action here. Lynn Padorca has got the better of the ground game so far. Padorca is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryan's back! I would not like to be Ryan right now.
Ryan is trying to remain composed but Padorca is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ryan is in bad spot here.

Lynn Padorca showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Padorca is looking to clinch. Ryan fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Padorca's waist but Padorca gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryan off to one side. Padorca scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Padorca is just content to waste time from the top position. Ryan takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Padorca landing with the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Padorca trying to control but Ryan is working from the bottom. Padorca stops Ryan from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padorca with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Padorca wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving. Padorca pushes down on Ryan's leg and manages to get into half guard. Padorca looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ryan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Ryan manages to get to full guard.
Ryan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Padorca's guard.
Lynn Padorca is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Padorca has a closed guard, preventing Ryan from standing up. Ryan stopping the sweep attempt from Padorca. Ryan looking to sit in guard and control but Padorca gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Padorca seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Padorca postures up and lands a big shot to Ryan's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Padorca slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Let's hope that Padorca has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Ryan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Padorca manages to get himself to full guard.
Ryan wants to stand but Padorca is controlling his posture from full guard. Padorca had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ryan defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ryan wants to control from the top but Padorca keeps moving. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Padorca holds on and takes a little breather. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jack Ryan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Padorca.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Lynn Padorca. Well Padorca has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
