Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rene Simard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Lee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Simard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Lee! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simard doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lee counters with a stiff right hand. Lee moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Lee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Simard drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lee keeping full guard, as Simard tries to pass. Simard stands and steps away. Lee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Lee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Simard avoids it really well and circles away. Simard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Simard persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing. Lee gets caught flat footed, as Simard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Simard is controlling him. Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Simard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Simard works a leg free and moves into half guard. Simard prevents Lee from standing back up.
Simard winds up and cracks Lee with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Lee flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lee wants to get back to his feet. Simard seems to be looking for submissions.
Lee misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Lee tries to kick Simard off but Simard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Lee throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simard is keen to just control but Lee is a slippery customer. Simard is working for a kimura here but Lee manages to reverse the position and he's now in Simard's guard.
Lee stands up from Simard's guard - Lee perhaps looking for a knockout. Bill Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simard stuffs the takedown. Simard has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rene Simard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lee pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Simard back to the cage. Lee follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. No joy there for Lee, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Simard is looking to counter the offense by Lee and move into the clinch. A solid body kick from Lee. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee misses with a takedown attempt and Simard counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Lee goes for a takedown in the clinch but Simard prevents it.
Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simard misses with a takedown attempt and Lee counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Simard as he avoids it easily. Simard doesn't manage to clinch there - Lee circles away.
Lee drops Simard with a beautiful combination! Simard stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lee is looking for the KO!
Simard is rocked! Simard keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Simard seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Oh Simard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lee fails with the takedown and Simard counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily. Simard seems to have got his legs back now. Lee looks winded! Lee lands with a straight right. Simard didn't see that one coming. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee throws a combination. Simard tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Nice sprawl there from Lee as Simard shoots in.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee lands a left and a right that send Simard crashing to the mat, dazed. Lee thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Simard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Lee counters with a right hand to the body. Lee connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Simard! He's out on his feet! Lee rushes in and drops Simard with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khali shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fenix defends it nicely. Khali takes one to the chin there. We've been hearing reports that Fenix has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Khali tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fenix swivels and escapes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Fenix finds it's way through Khali's defenses. Fenix swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Khali. Fenix lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Fenix is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fenix lands a nice hook to Khali's body. Khali takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Fenix fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Fenix pushes Khali up against the cage in a clinch. Fenix has Khali pushed against the cage. Fenix works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Khali looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Khali is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fenix to keep the fight standing. Marcus Fenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brij Khali. Fenix lands a nice shot to the body. Khali looks winded! Khali tries to pull guard but Fenix holds him up against the cage and eventually Khali drops back down to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fenix lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Fenix is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Fenix manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Fenix has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Khali clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee is taking a good look at Khali as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Fenix!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fenix lands a shot to the body. Khali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fenix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fenix lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Fenix.
Khali is rocked! Fenix lands a massive punch from the back that knocks Khali out cold! Fenix jumps to his feet and celebrates wildly with his corner.

Munchack looking for a sweep. Not yet Munchack, not yet. McSlamm might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McSlamm trying to control but Munchack is working from the bottom. Munchack is looking to cinch up a triangle. McSlamm throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Munchack's body to avoid the submission. Munchack has instead reached around McSlamm's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Munchack arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Franklin Munchack! In his post fight interview, Franklin Munchack started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. Sara McSlamm was interviewed post fight and said 'I made a mental error. when your flipping a burger thats not a big deal. you dont go to the hospital after forgetting to put the pickle on it... I gotta heal up but ill be back.'.

Rodrigez shoots for a double leg takedown but Gonzalez sprawls well. He's pushed Rodrigez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rodrigez moves into the clinch. Gonzalez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rodrigez felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gonzalez is looking for a kimura here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langerholc takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Dobson lands with an uppercut that bounces Langerholc off the cage and back into range. Langerholc catches Dobson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Dobson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Langerholc swats him away and circles back towards the center. Langerholc attempts a counter takedown but Dobson avoids it well and moves away. Langerholc fails with a takedown attempt. A little jabbing left from Dobson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Dobson lands a big head kick that sends Langerholc tumbling to the mat! Dobson takes a step backwards and waves Langerholc back to his feet - he wants the finish! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Langerholc stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Dobson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Langerholc sprawling to the canvas! Langerholc rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dobson finish him?!
Langerholc is rocked! Davor Langerholc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Are you kidding me?! Dobson ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Langerholc clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!

An out of breath Ben Dobson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. Murdock dropped down on all fours and is barking in Lodbrok's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Murdock! Michael Murdock really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sully's Bar & Grill logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
