Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rennon Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Enselmo Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva shoots in but no luck this time. Ramirez throws a series of punches but Silva moves out of range. Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramirez circles away. Ramirez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Ramirez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silva wants to clinch. Ramirez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silva. Ramirez lands a jab-cross combination. Ramirez misses with a few strikes there.
Ramirez swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. Ramirez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively. Ramirez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ramirez tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch. Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ramirez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rennon Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva has Ramirez pressed against the cage, preventing Ramirez from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Silva gets a trip takedown into half guard. Ramirez tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Ramirez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Silva missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ramirez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Silva stops Ramirez from getting back to his feet.
Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ramirez is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.

Ramirez kicks Silva off and gets back to his feet. Silva tries to clinch there but Ramirez circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Silva checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ramirez.

Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ramirez pinned against the cage. Ramirez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Silva is breathing heavily. A frustrated look appears on Ramirez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Silva has Ramirez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ramirez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Ramirez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ramirez moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nice body punch from Ramirez. Ramirez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Silva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Ramirez looks to land a combination. Silva sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Ramirez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Ramirez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Ramirez thuds his shin into the meat of Silva's side. Ramirez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ramirez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ramirez is working the combinations to good effect here. Silva shoots for a takedown but Ramirez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Silva pushes Ramirez up against the cage in a clinch. Ramirez is trying to break the clinch but Silva has him pressed against the cage. Silva is working for a takedown up against the cage. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Silva tries to clinch but Ramirez is having none of it. Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Ramirez circles away.
Ramirez thows a body shot but no joy. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Ramirez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ramirez holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Silva tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Silva looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Ramirez tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ramirez avoids a series of strikes thrown by Silva.

He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Ra dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gladiator. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Gladiator might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Ra slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ra's corner calls for a 1-2. Ra obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Gladiator with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ra to score with a decent uppercut. Ackman Ra is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ra cracks Gladiator with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Ra lands a jab to the head.

That sent Gladiator stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Gladiator shoots and misses and Ra cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Ra scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Ra's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Ra duly obliges. Nice uppercut lands for Ra. That snapped Gladiator's head back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gladiator needs to keep his hands up - Ra had a free shot at his head there. Gladiator takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
