Jason Maher struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Inoue uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maher.
As Maher tries to get set, Inoue tries to push him back and clinch up but Maher manages to avoid the attempt.

Maher moves into range and clinches up with Inoue.

Inoue jumps guard and drags Maher to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Inoue pulls Maher in close to prevent any damage.

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Angar misses with a two punch combination.
Ryan dives in for a single leg takedown but Angar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Angar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Angar uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ryan has time to react.
Ryan goes for a double leg but Angar avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Angar continues to drive forward.

Oooooh!!! Angar has knocked Ryan down with a huge combo! Angar steps away and waves a wobbly Ryan back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Ruiz's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Smith dives in looking to finish as Ruiz flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Smith's strikes! Smith is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Ruiz's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Ruiz was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
