3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edgar Alves! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Alves misses with a hook. Jones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Jones forces Alves back against the cage and clinches. Jones throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Alvess head. Jones taking a breather. Alves has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Alves tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage. Jeremy Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgar Alves. Jones lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Alves fails to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is working Alves over against the cage. Alves tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Alves drops back down to his feet.
