Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Avila Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and De Janeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Barbarian by The Darkness. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Janeiro tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alvarez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Janeiro somewhat.

Alvarez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCarthy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

McCarthy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

You can see the frustration on Lotus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
