Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Conner Bear! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregory Gilms! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilms defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bear. A swing and a miss from Gilms. Bear is looking to counter with head kicks. Bear bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Gilms scores with a hook. No luck for Bear with that takedown attempt. Gilms lands a nice looking body shot.
Gilms missing with a left hand there. Bear was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gregory Gilms seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gilms moves into the clinch successfully.
Gilms scores with a nice hook to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A short right from Gilms.
Bear is rocked! Gilms effectively controlling the action here. Oh Bear is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Bear has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gilms avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conner Bear. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gilms taking a breather. Bear seems to have got his legs back now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bear has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gilms is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bear wants to stall.
Gilms drops Bear onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Bear is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
It looks like Conner Bear has been cut. Gilms creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Bear with a big uppercut! Bear tries to clinch up but Gilms pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Bear to the mat! Bear covers up and Gilms unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gregory Gilms! A relieved looking Gregory Gilms thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
