These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heart throws a lazy right hand but Pan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pan tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Pan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Heart swivels and escapes. A looping hook to the body misses from Heart. Pan does a little dance to reset his feet. Pan lands a nice shot that snaps Heart's head back.
Pan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Heart avoids it really well and circles away. Heart is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pan. Pan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Heart swats him away and circles back towards the center. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pan's coach down at Soul Supremacy Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pan's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Heart escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Heart throws the left hand but Pan avoids the punch easily. Pan throws a jab when Heart was well out of range. Heart wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pan, right into the meat.

Heart swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Heart uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pan.

Heart looks to land a left hand but Pan moved out of range nicely. Pan throws out a loose jab but Heart uses good head movement to avoid it. Heart manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Heart throws a jab but it's blocked by Pan. Heart sets himself, and Pan steps forward looking for the clinch! That was a close second round but I would say that Peter Heart will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Heart keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pan. As Pan tries to get set, Heart tries to push him back and clinch up but Pan manages to avoid the attempt. Heart throws a lazy right hand but Pan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pan with the counter takedown but Heart avoids it easily. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steamboat shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Alvarez is trying to defend but Steamboat finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Steamboat working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Steamboat is pressing down on Alvarez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alvarez is holding on for now. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Steamboat connects with a nice short shot to Alvarez's temple. Alvarez wants to control but Steamboat is keeping busy.
Alvarez is concentrating on defense, preventing Steamboat from advancing position. Steamboat thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alvarez's head. Steamboat lands with a punch from half guard. Alvarez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alvarez tries to get out of the position. Alvarez is trying is best to control the position here. Steamboat throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bellwether with a poor takedown and Murdock counters with a lovely shot to the body. Bellwether shoots in for a double leg but Murdock sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Bellwether has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Murdock throws an overhand right that lands on Bellwether's shoulder, as Bellwether tries to avoid the shot. Murdock stalks Bellwether and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bellwether's face. Bellwether staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Beckett Bellwether has been cut. Jack Murdock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bellwether uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Murdock. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pooh shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fitzpatrick sprawls well. Fitzpatrick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pooh gets slowly back to his feet. Fitzpatrick tries to bum rush Pooh with a series of wild strikes but Pooh uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pooh is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick misses the jab. Pooh tries to counter by clinching up but Fitzpatrick breaks away and moves out of range. Pooh shoots for a double leg takedown but Fitzpatrick sprawls well. He's pushed Pooh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fitzpatrick throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pooh stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ante Gotovina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernesto Panado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Faber with that takedown attempt. Faber shoots for a takedown but Chuvalo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Chuvalo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Chuvalo.
