Webb looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range. A slow jab from Webb misses its intended target. Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Huber tries for a takedown but Pouncey circles away easily letting Pouncey counter with a right hand. Huber tries for a takedown but Pouncey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pouncey scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Huber fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Huber. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pouncey uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Mario Huber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pouncey fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Pouncey sizes up Huber with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Huber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pouncey tries to avoid it but Huber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pouncey to the ground. Pouncey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
