The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinto darts in looking for a takedown but Mason gets double underhooks and turns Pinto into the cage.
Mason displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pinto.
Mason moves in looking to clinch but Pinto pushes him off.
Pinto is looking for a counter combo.
Mason tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pinto defends well and Mason ends up having to push Pinto into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pinto is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Mason.

Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. Pinto tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pinto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pinto tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pinto to the ground. Pinto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mason shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mason was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mason creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pinto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
