3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Costa! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.

Costa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barbosa paws at him with a jab and circles away. It looked like Barbosa was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Costa fails with the takedown and Barbosa counters with a three punch combo that has Costa backing up. Costa nods at Barbosa to acknowledge the strikes. Andre Costa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Costa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barbosa as he avoids it easily. Barbosa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Costa. It looked like Barbosa was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Jose Barbosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Costa.
Costa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Barbosa, pushing him back against the cage.
Costa pulls Barbosa into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barbosa content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Barbosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barbosa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Costa wants to hit a switch here but Barbosa passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Costa there! Barbosa avoids the attempt from Costa to control. Costa is trying desperately to improve position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Costa can do anything to dispel that myth. Costa wants to control but Barbosa is having none of it.

Barbosa trying to control but he's not successful this time. Costa throwing hammer fists to the chest of Barbosa. What's that going to do exactly? Barbosa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barbosa looking to control and managing it successfully. Costa keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Barbosa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Costa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rzasa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Adler paws at him with a jab and circles away. Adler tries to land a front kick but Rzasa steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Adler doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rzasa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rzasa. Rzasa scoring with some ground and pound. Adler is looking to stand up but Rzasa isn't so interested in that idea. Adler is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rzasa engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adler lands with a nice combination. Rzasa backs away looking to recover. Rzasa keeps the fight on the outside. Adler doesn't manage to clinch there - Rzasa circles away.
Adler tests Rzasa's chin there with a solid looking shot. Rzasa stuffs the takedown attempt from Adler. Adler gets slowly back to his feet. Adler is looking to clinch.
Rzasa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Adler did well to prevent Rzasa getting side control. Adler wants to stand back up but Rzasa manages to pass into side control.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Adler's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Tomasz Rzasa has got the better of the ground game so far. Adler tries to improve his position but instead Rzasa has taken his back! Adler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rzasa on the ground. Rzasa is looking to control Adler but Adler is wriggling around and keeping busy. Rzasa punches Adler on the ear. Adler turns into Rzasa and is now in his guard.

Jagodnik throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Czang to regain full guard. Jagodnik looking to sit in guard and control but Czang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. Jagodnik wants to sweep but Czang has passed to side control! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Jagodnik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Czang slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Czang is staying tight to Jagodnik's torso, preventing him from escaping. Czang has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Jagodnik! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Czang controlling from the full mount. Czang seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jagodnik for as long as he can get away with. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jagodnik has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Czang has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Jagodnik's body.

Guilmette gets tackled into the cage by De Noteboom. De Noteboom maintains the clinch. Guilmette is looking to break free of the clinch but De Noteboom has double underhooks. De Noteboom lands a shoulder strike. De Noteboom lands a hook to the side of the head.
De Noteboom turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Guilmette bucks up and tries to throw De Noteboom off but instead De Noteboom has got his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! De Noteboom has the hooks in. Guilmette is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. De Noteboom lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. De Noteboom lands punches and elbows.

Silva moves out of range as Ramirez strikes. Silva cracks a nice hook into Ramirez's ribs. Silva uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ramirez. Ramirez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Silva scoring well with a low kick there.
Silva uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ramirez. Ramirez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Silva misses with an attempted mid kick.
Ramirez avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Silva slips a straight right by Ramirez. Ramirez scores with a leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ramirez misses with a hook. Silva ducked under it nicely. Ramirez checks a low kick from Silva. Ramirez half committed to a counter leg kick.

A slow jab from Silva misses its intended target. Silva displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ramirez throws out the jab. Rafa Silva seems to be getting the better of the standup. Silva throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Ramirez cracks the inside of Silva's front leg. Ramirez connects with a solid leg kick. Silva turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ramirez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramirez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ramirez working away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ramirez is trying to ground and pound but Silva uses the momentary lack of control by Ramirez to regain half guard. Ramirez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Silva reverses the position - he's now on top in Ramirez's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ricardo Ramirez will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Ramirez uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Silva has time to react. Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Ramirez moves out of range easily. Ramirez throws a front kick aimed at Silva's knee but Silva avoids it well. Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ramirez misses with a body kick. Silva is looking for the big counter here. Silva takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Silva, right into the meat.

Ramirez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Ramirez misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming. Silva only half commits to the counter leg kick. Ramirez moves out of range of the body kick. Silva's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Ramirez scores with a nice right hand.

Silva tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Ramirez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Ramirez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Ramirez connects with a single shot there. Ramirez lands a lovely overhand right. Silva throws a push kick but Ramirez slaps the foot to one side. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Silva throws out a loose jab but Ramirez uses good head movement to avoid it. Ramirez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ramirez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Ricardo Ramirez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Ramirez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
