3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Spencer! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dimitriou throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Spencer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Good exchange - Dimitriou coming out on top. Spencer thuds his right hand into Dimitriou's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Spencer moves out of range of the body kick from Dimitriou.

Spencer darts in and clinches Dimitriou up against the ropes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dimitriou tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Dimitriou wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dimitriou appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Andris Dimitriou seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spencer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dimitriou circles away quickly and effectively. It looked like Dimitriou wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Dimitriou misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A left lands for Spencer. Nice cross by Spencer. Oh Dimitriou is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spencer lands with a left to the head. Dimitriou wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Spencer has him pressed against the ropes. Spencer lands a nice shot to the body. A hook to the body from Spencer.
Dimitriou's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Spencer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Spencer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Spencer counters with a beautiful hook that drops Dimitriou to the mat! Will Dimitriou be able to recover his senses? The referee starts the count at 3 having sent Spencer to a neutral corner. 4,5,6 and Dimitriou is up. He looks OK to continue. Dimitriou throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Spencer counter with a right hand. Dimitriou swings widly with a right hand

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulsen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Vettl throws a sloppy body shot
and Paulsen counters with a good low kick that Vettl was not able to check. Vettl fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vettl on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Paulsen lands with a kick to the ribs.

Paulsen lands a nice looking body kick. Paulsen lands with a straight right. Vettl didn't see that one coming. Paulsen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Paulsen lands with a shot to the body. A solid leg kick lands there for Paulsen.
Paulsen closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Vettl crashing to the mat! Vettl uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!

Paulsen scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Vettl to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Paulsen away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Vettl got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!

Gerhard Vettl's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Paulsen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Paulsen, right into the meat.
