The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thrower shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Zaad trying to control from the bottom.
Zaad on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Thrower working over Zaad with some ground and pound. Zaad looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Thrower is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Thrower is taking a breather. Zaad says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Thrower lands a nice short elbow. Thrower stands up and beckons Zaad to join him on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thrower fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Zaad bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Thrower's head backwards. Zaad sizes up Thrower with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Thrower throws a hook but Zaad blocks it. Zaad throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zaad slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Thrower misses with the combination.
Chara Zaad is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Zaad lands a nice shot to the body.
Thrower throws a leg kick that is checked and Zaad cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Zaad with a body punch. A glancing blow. Zaad scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Zaad keeps the fight on the outside. Zaad connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Thrower tumbling to the canvas! Zaad pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Thrower was done - good stoppage!

Thawne is rocked! Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily. This has been an exciting period of action! Thawne with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jones to score with a decent uppercut. Thawne is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him? Jones defending well as Thawne loads up on a big left hand. A shot to the body from Thawne misses and Jones counters with a lovely shot to the body. Thawne just misses with a punch to the body.

Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thawne. Jones lands a left and a right that send Thawne crashing to the mat, dazed. Jones thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Thawne throws a body shot but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Thawne misses the body punch and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Thawne thinking. Jones thuds a left hand into Thawne's body. Jones lands a body shot.

Thawne pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Thawne throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off. Thawne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it. Thawne will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Jones with a body punch. A glancing blow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thawne pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rasizade moves away from the strike by Gregor. Rasizade slips a jab from Gregor. The fight moves into the clinch position. Rasizade has Gregor pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rasizade pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gregor tumbling to the mat - Rasizade dives into Gregor's guard. Gregor on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gregor tries to get out of the position. Gregor wants to stand but Rasizade is controlling the position. Rasizade sitting in guard, not really doing much. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rasizade pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gregor is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gregor fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rasizade on the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rasizade digs a good body shot into Gregor's ribs. Rasizade jabs Gregor to the body, keeping him at a distance. Rasizade throws a lazy right hand but Gregor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. It looked like Gregor wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Gregor fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Rasizade closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gregor quickly recovers to half guard. Rasizade perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Rasizade's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. My spies in Crapollas Gym inform me that Rasizade has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! It looks like Rasizade might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gregor wants to get back to his feet but Rasizade is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gregor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rasizade was well out of range. Poor timing from Gregor. Rasizade looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Rasizade throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gregor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rasizade is in Gregor's guard. Rasizade slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Rasizade is staying tight to Gregor's torso, preventing him from escaping. More stalling from Rasizade. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rasizade is continuing to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rasizade tightens his grip and picks Gregor up, before dumping him to the ground. Gregor manages to land in guard. Rasizade is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rasizade prevents Gregor from getting back to his feet. Gregor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rasizade controls the pace. Gregor trying to keep a closed guard but Rasizade is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rasizade has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rasizade cracks Gregor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. A combination from Gregor does no damage. Rasizade now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Gregor keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gregor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rasizade circles away quickly and effectively. Rasizade gets a clinch. Gregor blocks a body shot from Rasizade.

Rasizade showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The adventures of Rasizade the control monster continue. Boring. Rasizade preventing the sweep. Rasizade passes easily into side control. Nice work. Rasizade in side control, just content to control the action for now.

He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Rasizade stands and throws Gregor's legs to the side, diving into side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gregor is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

He's almost out here... but no, Rasizade gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Rasizade has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gregor! Rasizade tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gregor wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Sampson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bee eats them both and turns towards Sampson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Sampson throws a body shot but no joy. Sampson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
