The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Studd is looking to clinch but Strait is avoiding it.
Studd looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Strait darts in looking for a takedown but Studd gets double underhooks and turns Strait into the cage.
Strait will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Strait showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Studd.

and Strait counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Studd makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Strait circles away from the clinch attempt.
Strait looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Studd is fending him off so far but Strait persists. Nope, Studd circles away and we're back to standing.
John Studd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Strait.
Studd leaves Strait with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Studd's coaches at Cozad MMA Las Vegas have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Strait is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Strait should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Griffin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Maybetter leaves Griffin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Maybetter counters with a crisp one two that drops Griffin! Maybetter thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Griffin to his feet! Griffin is in big trouble!

Griffin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Griffin drops his hands momentarily. Maybetter doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Griffin staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Griffin doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
