The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Kurosessou checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Pain closes the distance and clinches up with Kurosessou, looking for a takedown. Pain pushes Kurosessou against the cage but Kurosessou circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kurosessou gets caught flat footed, as Pain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kurosessou has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pain gets to his feet - Kurosessou follows without any prompting.

Pain shoots in for a takedown but Kurosessou shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pain leaves Kurosessou with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pain throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kurosessou's head.

Pain gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pain misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kurosessou is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Pain jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kurosessou walks away with a smile on his face. Pain gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Naytz Pain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Pain counters with a shoot takedown. Kurosessou fights it but they end up in guard.

Pain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kurosessou has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pain has managed to get both his arms back between Kurosessou's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
