 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs misses with a head kick.
McClane shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jacobs's guard. McClane throwing strikes from guard but Jacobs blocks nicely. McClane has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McClane trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. McClane throws a strike but Jacobs rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. McClane keeping moving, preventing Jacobs from controlling successfully. Jacobs loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.  It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jacobs will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. McClane tries for a takedown but Jacobs circles away easily and Jacobs counters with a one-two to the body. McClane has his takedown stuffed and Jacobs counters with a two punch combo. McClane shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jacobs counters with a single leg into guard. McClane didn't expect that. JP Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John McClane. McClane looks gassed! Jacobs missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jacobs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.  The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McClane gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jacobs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McClane's guard now. Jacobs passes McClane's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jacobs throwing shots but McClane is blocking nicely. Jacobs slips a nice elbow through McClane's hands, connecting with McClane's forehead. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jacobs thows a huge punch but McClane dodges it nicely.

Jacobs closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jacobs with the ground and pound but McClane uses the opportunity to regain guard. Jacobs looking to sit in guard and control but McClane gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McClane with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. McClane being controlled here momentarily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McClane missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jacobs's head. McClane working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. McClane is looking to take a break and control but Jacobs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McClane throwing shots but Jacobs is blocking nicely. McClane stalling away here and it's allowed Jacobs to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. McClane throws a big right hand that misses.  Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jacobs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. JP Jacobs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jacobs wants to control the pace but McClane is squirming around nicely. McClane is working to get back to half guard.

Jacobs jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle�. Ooooh, that looks tight� McClane is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McClane and Jacobs has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

McClane controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Jacobs trying to control the position but McClane is working away. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to JP Jacobs. Well Jacobs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...  It looks like Travis Penny has been cut. Hurt throws a quick inside leg kick. Penny is still on wobbly legs! Can Hurt finish him? Penny looks gassed! The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hurt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Penny seems to have recovered his senses.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kirkebom is defended easily by Quick. Quick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Quick uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Quick lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Quick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kirkebom paws at him with a jab and circles away. Quick thumps Kirkebom with a low kick. Kirkebom is breathing heavily.

Kirkebom fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kirkebom tries to pull guard but Quick holds him up against the cage and eventually Kirkebom drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oddis Kirkebom. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quick connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kirkebom's face.
 It looks like Oddis Kirkebom has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kirkebom tries a knee to the head but Quick blocks it.
Quick lands an elbow just above Kirkebom 's eye. Quick unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kirkebom lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Quick lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Quick jerks Kirkebom's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Kirkebom drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Quick goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Quick because Kirkebom was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mikey Powell. I think Powell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Durden rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Larson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Durden lands a left and a right that send Larson crashing to the mat, dazed. Durden thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
