The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reid fails with the takedown. Reid tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matlock swivels and escapes. Reid fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Matlock to the ground. Reid is now in Matlock's guard. Reid has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Matlock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reid is one step ahead there. Matlock pulls Reid in close to prevent any damage. Reid is looking to work some ground and pound but Matlock has wrist control. Reid sitting in guard, not really doing much. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. and Booker counters with a nice right hand that sends Mansikka toppling to the canvas! Mansikka scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Booker finish him?! Booker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mansikka. We've been told by Booker's head coaches at Top Dawg that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Mansikka tries to close the distance and clinch but Booker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mansikka fails in his attempt to clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mansikka scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Booker cracks Mansikka with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Mansikka tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Booker pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Mansikka is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
