Slide connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Slide pushes Givesafuck up against the cage in a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Slide.
Givesafuck changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Slide fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Givesafuck fails in his attempt to clinch.

KJ Slide seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Givesafuck closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slide circles away.

Nakwana tries to keep at a distance but Diaz has taken the fight into the clinch.

Diaz has Nakwana pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Diaz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nakwana tumbling to the mat - Diaz dives into Nakwana's guard.
Diaz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Nakwana controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Diego Maradona has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whelmberg leaves Delen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Delen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Whelmberg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Whelmberg throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Delen was covering up waiting for the punch and Whelmberg finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Whelmberg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Delen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Whelmberg uses his free foot to push down on Delen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Delen.
Whelmberg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Balboa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ogawa tries to avoid it but Balboa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ogawa to the ground. Ogawa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Balboa shoots in looking for a takedown but Ogawa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Balboa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Slade throws out a loose jab but Shubin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shubin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Slade to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
