The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pleman closes the distance and clinches up with Starks, looking for a takedown. Pleman pushes Starks against the cage but Starks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Starks shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pleman is trying to defend but Starks finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Starks stalling.

Pleman looking for a kimura from the bottom but Starks passes into side control!

Starks feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Charo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lawson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Charo falls off balance throwing a combination
and Lawson counters with a series of strikes. Charo will be more careful next time no doubt.

A looping hook to the body misses from Charo. Lawson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Oh Charo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lawson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Charo, pushing him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Klimera scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Conchino is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Klimera can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
