The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by Dekkers. Squanch gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Dekkers has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Squanch is landing a low percentage of strikes. Dekkers throws out a leg kick but Squanch moves out of range and Dekkers only half commits. Squanch is looking to counter the offense by Dekkers and move into the clinch. Squanch takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Jab, jab by Dekkers - just one landing. Dekkers wants to slow Squanch down by chopping away at his legs. Squanch swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Dekkers throws a hook but Squanch avoids it easily. Squanch is looking to counter the offense by Dekkers and move into the clinch. Dekkers looks for the body kick but Squanch saw that one coming. Dekkers wants to slow Squanch down by chopping away at his legs. A little feinted left hand from Squanch on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Drotske. No joy for Allen on that attempt. A jab from Drotske misses. Allen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Markus Drotske seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Drotske looks to throw the jab but Allen is out of range. Allen with a poor takedown and Drotske cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Markus Drotske has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Allen. Allen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Allen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Drotske counters with a straight right hand. Allen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Drotske drops Allen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Allen looks back up at him and smiles so Drotske waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Allen is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drotske ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Allen's jaw. Allen's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Drotske does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Stefanov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Stefanov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Stefanov scores with a hook to the body. Abbott takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Stefanov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chris is looking to control Sousa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chris avoid being mounted? Chris felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Joao Sousa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chris controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Chris makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chris. Sousa working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Chris manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sousa manages to get himself to full guard.

Bell closes the distance and clinches up with Mercury, looking for a takedown. Bell pushes Mercury against the cage but Mercury circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Bell walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mercury. Mercury lands a body shot.
Mercury connects with a body shot that sends Bell's belly button to the back. Bell shoots in and drives through. Mercury sprawls well. Mercury stuffs the takedown.
