11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Connor McGregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lin Shui! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shui fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McGregor to the ground. Shui is now in McGregor's guard. Shui slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shui looking to sit in guard and control but McGregor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shui controlling McGregor's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shui is continuing to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGregor stays in close to Shui's body and controls the position. Shui is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. McGregor passes into half guard. McGregor wants to stand up but Shui has a hold of him and won't allow it. Shui controlling the position well. Shui felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shui tries to get to full guard but McGregor has control of the leg. McGregor sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shui defending well though. Shui is holding on to half guard well. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Shui is looking to improve his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McGregor plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Shui connects with a leg kick. McGregor looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. McGregor fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shui does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. McGregor looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Shui avoids the head kick by McGregor.
Shui fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McGregor looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. McGregor is looking to land body kicks. Shui is looking for the big counter here. Shui looks to land a body kick but McGregor moved away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGregor blocks a jab. McGregor throws a big counter combination but Shui scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. McGregor doesn't manage to clinch there - Shui circles away.
Shui is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McGregor with a body shot. Shui looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Shui feints and then cracks McGregor's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McGregor down. McGregor on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. McGregor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A nice inside leg kick there by Shui. That's going to slow McGregor down. McGregor has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from McGregor there as he acknowledges the shot. Lin Shui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McGregor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McGregor moves in looking to clinch but Shui pushes him off. Shui slips under a jab from McGregor. Shui tries to counter by closing the distance. McGregor rushes Shui and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shui blocking some punches.

A close round but Lin Shui will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

McGregor lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shui backwards. Shui tries to land knees in the clinch but McGregor avoids the damage to the body. McGregor using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Shui has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

McGregor is rocked! Shui lands an elbow that stopped McGregor in his tracks for a moment. Oh McGregor is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Shui controlling the action here for a moment.

He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Shui is unloading with more strikes now! McGregor drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martins dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Gears misses with a straight left. Martins wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. A big right from Martins misses. Martins lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Martins throws a lazy right hand but Gears sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Martins throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gears sees it coming and avoids it easily. The fighters circling - Martins throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Gears throws a big counter combination but Martins scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Gears is trying to force a seperation but Martins has the dominant position. Gears is trying to break the clinch but Martins has him pressed against the cage. And that's the end of the fight! Otavio Martins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Martins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stark closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Viking to the mat! Viking manages to get full guard. Stark trying to control but Viking is working from the bottom. Viking has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stark can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've been hearing good reports from Viking's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Stark throws a big right hand that misses. Stark wants to control from the top but Viking keeps moving. Stark looking to pass the guard. Viking working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Viking is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Stark trying to control but Viking is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Viking is on top in guard.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Viking looking to sit in guard and control but Stark gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Stark trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Viking looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Viking looking for a guillotine here but Stark defends easily.
My spies in Touch Of Death Combat Academy inform me that Stark has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Viking is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lopetus moves out of range of the strikes. Hughes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lopetus to score with a decent uppercut. Hughes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hughes scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. The crowd cheers as Hughes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lopetus doesn't seem phased though. Hughes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Lopetus pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hughes misses with a hook. Lopetus ducked under it nicely. Bronson Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lopetus throws a big shot that misses. Lopetus moves out of range as Hughes throws a body kick.

Lynn has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Pennypacker moves into the clinch. Russell Lynn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lynn is stalking Pennypacker. Pennypacker circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Lynn, and it's lights out! Pennypacker really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
