The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Akinfawe in a clinch.

Michael Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oh Akinfawe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jackson pushes Akinfawe against the cage. Jackson is working some dirty boxing. Jackson pushes off with a quick right hook! Akinfawe goes down! Akinfawe tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Jackson moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harvey moves into the clinch.
Harvey gets underhooks to prevent Winkle's takedown attempt.
Winkle wants to get back to striking at distance but Harvey won't allow it.
Winkle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Harvey pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Harvey lands a left hand that snaps the head of Winkle backwards.
Harvey lands with a left to the head.
Winkle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Van Harvey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Winkle.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Harvey takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Winkle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Harvey defends it easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Winkle can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Harvey controls the pace.
Winkle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harvey is controlling him.

Harvey turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Harvey manages to end up in side control.

Harvey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Winkle is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Harvey is trying to get an arm triangle but Winkle is defending well.

Harvey is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Winkle is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Winkle flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Harvey anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Winkle and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Harvey slips an arm under Winkle chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Harvey has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Harvey is squeezing on Winkle like an anaconda would it's prey. Winkle fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Van Harvey!

Van Harvey decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.

Bantom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ahjd paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ahjd appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ahjd shoots in for a takedown but Bantom shows good takedown defense.

Ahjd tries to sprawl but Bantom drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Bantom is working for a kimura but Ahjd is defending it quite comfortably.
Ahjd is positioning himself well to prevent Bantom advancing to mount.
Ahjd could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ahjd tries to roll over but Bantom keeps him under control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Bantom might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
