The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villegas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Villegas has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia won't allow Villegas to get back to his feet.
Maia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Maia stands and throws Villegas's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Maia has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Villegas is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Maia yanks on the arm and Villegas is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Maia.
