The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abs connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Marven's hands.
Abs doesn't manage to clinch there - Marven circles away.
Abs looks to score with a jab to the body but Marven is just out of range.

Marven gets a double leg takedown into Abs's guard.
Abs throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Marven drops back looking for a leg! Abs is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abs manages to kick Marven off! Marven jumps back into Abs's guard.
Marven trying to control but Abs is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abs is pulling down on Marven's head to control his posture.

Abs has his foot on Marven's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marven works his way back into a safe position though.

Marven drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marven jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Abs is looking to stand up but Marven isn't so interested in that idea.

Oh, another knee lands and Marven is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Marven doesn't seem to be complaining.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes feints and then cracks Smithson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smithson down.
Reyes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Reyes walks into a left hand.
Smithson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reyes is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Reyes is aggressively charging in as Smithson backs up avoiding any damage. Smithson tosses out a jab and Reyes runs right into it face first! Reyes is out cold! Smithson dropped down on all fours and is barking in Reyes's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Strong has chosen Ganza na Areia as his entrance music. Faniqueiro Strong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! We've been told by Rossi's head coaches at Project Cadmus that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
