Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Power Max! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arnold Stein! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Max stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Stein. Stein works the jab nicely. Stein moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Stein feints and then cracks Max's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Max down. Max drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stein tries to get back to half guard but can't. Max remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Max working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stein is pushing Max's head away, looking to escape. Max manages to hold on to the position though. Max creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Stein sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stein can do anything to dispel that myth. Max fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Stein is looking for a sweep. Max is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stein is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Stein is trying to get back to half guard.

Max definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Stein is looking to reverse the position. Stein can't do much from the bottom here. Max has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stein trying to remain calm as Max controls from the top position. Max looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Stein is avoiding damage well.
Max is trying to get an arm triangle but Stein is defending well. Max decides to stand back up. Max steps back and let's Stein get back to his feet.

It looks like Power Max has been cut. Max is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Max is trying to get back to half guard. Stein is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Max is working hard here to advance position. Max might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. You can see the frustration on Max's face as Stein controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Howlett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Asce works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Howlett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. Asce's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Asce! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

James Howlett decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ngannou takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ngannou takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Ngannou keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lima tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ngannou manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Ngannou unleashes a big counter combination but Lima bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. A punch combination from Ngannou misses. Ngannou throws a right hand that Lima ducks under and follows up with a left that Lima also avoids with ease. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lima. Lima pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ngannou avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Lima throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ngannou was covering up waiting for the punch and Lima finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lima trying to control but Ngannou is working from the bottom. Lima will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Lima is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. This has been an exciting period of action! Lima thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lima drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lima jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lima passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Ngannou is not content to let Lima control the position. Lima moves into full mount! Lima looking to secure an arm triangle but Ngannou defends it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lima is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ngannou is surviving well by controlling Lima's body position as best he can. Ngannou really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lima. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lima can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ngannou is looking to escape. Lima looking to finish with strikes here!

Murko has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle -Apply Within in the buildup to the fight. Nice uppercut there from Murko. Allen taking some punishment here, with Dayne in his half guard. Allen has hold of Dayne's hands but Dayne slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Allen is looking for a sweep. Dayne is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Dayne drops an elbow to the side of Allen's head. Allen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dayne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Allen on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vieira tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McKane swivels and escapes. McKane throws out a loose jab but Vieira uses good head movement to avoid it. McKane lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vieira at a distance.
McKane bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Vieira misses with a kick to the body.
McKane looks to land a right hand but Vieira moved out of range. McKane scores with the left hand. Vieira knows he should have avoided that one. Vieira shoots in from a long way out.
