These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Squanch ducks under a wild hook from Mark. Squanch moves out of range of the strikes. Mark falls off balance throwing a combination
and Squanch counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mark misses with a left hand and Squanch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mark misses with a left hand and Squanch counters with a nice uppercut. Marky Mark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mark shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Squanch pinned against the cage. Squanch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. and Squanch counters with a lovely straight right hand! It looks like Squanch has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Squanchy Squanch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mark throws a right hand that misses
and Squanch connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nice defenses there by Squanch. Squanch is looking to counter punch. Mark scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Mark lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Squanch at a distance.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mark. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mark misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mark takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Squanch is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Hryunov's coach down at 3Band MMA ($800/week) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hryunov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Hryunov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hryunov wants to stand but Sobota has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hryunov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Hryunov's corner is telling him to maintain position. Hryunov stands up and waves to Sobota to follow him. Hryunov changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Sobota defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hryunov. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hryunov wants to break the clinch but can't.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zulu scores with a nice strike. Kazakov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Zulu getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Kazakov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Zulu scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Zulu connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kazakov. Kazakov circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Kazakov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zulu as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vasilliy Kazakov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kazakov with a lazy takedown attempt and Zulu counters with a straight right hand. We've been informed that Zulu has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Nice jab there from Zulu.
Kazakov is rocked! Kazakov has his takedown stuffed and Zulu counters with a good low kick that Kazakov was not able to check. Oh Kazakov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kazakov is breathing heavily. Kazakov walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Kazakov limp body while Zulu jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zulu Zulu! In his post fight interview, Zulu Zulu started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.

James shoots in and bounces Dekkers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. James sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dekkers's guard. James is working for a kimura but Dekkers is defending it quite comfortably.
Dekkers looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Dekkers is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ungar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Gay is looking to break free of the clinch but Ungar has double underhooks. Gay escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sarducci tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mekinist swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mekinist has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Sarducci swings for the body but Mekinist moves out of range.
Mekinist on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sarducci connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Mekinist throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sarducci stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Sarducci thows a left - swing and a miss! Mekinist might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Mekinist tries a head kick but it misses.

Mekinist throws a right hand that Sarducci ducks under and follows up with a left that Sarducci also avoids with ease. A solid body kick from Mekinist. Sarducci throws a good cross that connects.

Aoki has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Andreev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Aoki defends well and Andreev ends up having to push Aoki into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
