Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Barbosa (ranked 6251 p4p, 530 weight class) and Bornas Lopette (ranked 11848 p4p, 656 weight class). Lopette has chosen Root Of All Evil as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barbosa dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Barbosa throws a leg kick that is checked and Lopette counters with a nice kick to the body. Barbosa looks for the body kick but Lopette saw that one coming. Lopette showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Barbosa.
Barbosa tries to clinch up but Lopette circles away and keeps his distance. Barbosa misses with a series of wild punches.
Barbosa takes the fight into the clinch. A left hand lands to the body for Barbosa.

We've been hearing reports that Barbosa has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. This has been an exciting period of action! Lopette steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Barbosa. Lopette connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Lopette misses with a straight left. Lopette avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Barbosa has a takedown stuffed. Lopette lands a glancing blow to the side of Barbosa's head. Lopette cracks Barbosa with a right hand to the side of the head. Lopette tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barbosa was well out of range. Poor timing from Lopette. Lopette is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barbosa. Barbosa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lopette manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Barbosa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Barbosa is working hard here to advance position. Barbosa's corner is telling him to maintain position. Barbosa gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Lopette on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Lopette connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barbosa staying out of range there. Barbosa fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lopette is out of range. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lopette! But no joy. Barbosa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Barbosa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lopette attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Lopette keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Lopette throws a quick inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbosa throws out a loose jab but Lopette uses good head movement to avoid it. Barbosa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lopette. Barbosa connects with an inside leg kick. Lopette lands with a kick to the temple. Barbosa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Barbosa moves into range and connects with a jab. Barbosa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lopette. A head kick misses from Barbosa. Daniel Barbosa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lopette does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Lopette misses with a short punch on the inside. A nice right hand lands inside from Barbosa. Barbosa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Barbosa throws a body kick that misses. Lopette takes a shot right to the bread basket. A combination from Barbosa does no damage. Lopette feints and then cracks Barbosa's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Barbosa down. Lopette ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Lopette cracks Barbosa with a right hand to the side of the head. Lopette throws a nice looking combination but Barbosa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Barbosa shoots in and bounces Lopette off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Barbosa showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Barbosa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Barbosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lopette swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barbosa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Barbosa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lopette, up you get! Lopette checks a low kick from Barbosa. Barbosa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Lopette's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Lopette tries to work over Barbosa's front leg with a kick but Barbosa checks it. Barbosa throws a leg kick which misses Lopette's front leg but catches the back leg as Lopette tries to avoid it. Barbosa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lopette let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Barbosa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lopette misses with a straight left. A cross from Barbosa lands. Lopette looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

A very excited looking Elijah Pitakaka rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. In defeat, Brian Murphy stepped up to the mic, saying 'Can I still cut it?'.

Poulter fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Poulter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rowanda connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Poulter scrambles back to his feet. Rowanda scores with a jab to the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rowanda darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. A jab from Rowanda finds it's way through Poulter's defenses.
Poulter is rocked! Poulter bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Rowanda comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Poulter falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Poulter was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Riaq Rowanda! Our winner, Riaq Rowanda, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.

Mayoniko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dangerous Jr counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mayoniko thinking. Mayoniko avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A slow jab from Dangerous Jr misses its intended target. Dangerous Jr misses with a body kick. And Mayoniko responds with a good body kick, but Dangerous Jr manages to step out the way in time. Zuma fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zuma pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And Anstey tries to counter it with a takedown but Zuma pushes his down on his head and steps out. Anstey swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Zuma counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Zuma bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Anstey looks to throw the jab but Zuma is out of range. Zuma half committed to a counter leg kick. A shot to the liver by Zuma. Beautiful body shot. Zuma misses the shot to the body. Anstey unleashes a big counter combination but Zuma bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Anstey gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Zuma tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sloppy strikes from Anstey. Those never looked like landing. Zuma lands a nice shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zuma cracks the inside of Anstey's front leg. Zuma checks a leg kick nicely. Anstey takes one to the chin there. Zuma throws a sloppy head kick and Anstey moves out of range easily. Zuma drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Anstey's head, knocking him out cold! Zuma is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Monte Zuma! A very excited looking Monte Zuma rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
