Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunji Koizumi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustin is looking to clinch but Koizumi is avoiding it.
Koizumi gets a double leg takedown into Gustin's guard. Gustin is looking to stand up but Koizumi isn't so interested in that idea. Koizumi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gustin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Koizumi is controlling him. Koizumi trying to control but Gustin is working from the bottom. Koizumi throws a big right hand that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gustin wants to get back to his feet but Koizumi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Koizumi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gustin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Koizumi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gustin as he avoids it easily. Koizumi tries a head kick but it misses.

Koizumi feints and as Gustin raises his hands in defense, Koizumi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Koizumi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Koizumi trying to control but Gustin is working from the bottom. Koizumi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Koizumi missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Koizumi wants to take a breather but Gustin is having none of it. Koizumi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gustin is just riding it out for now. Koizumi eventually gives up the hold. Koizumi wants to take a breather but Gustin is having none of it. Gustin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Koizumi is working away from the top position though. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Koizumi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gustin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

It looks like Melvin Gustin has been cut. Gustin looks to land a right hand but Koizumi moved out of range. Gustin looks to land a left hand but Koizumi moved out of range nicely. Koizumi with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gustin moves into range and clinches up with Koizumi. Koizumi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gustin pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunji Koizumi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gustin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Gunji Koizumi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Koizumi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Gustin has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Koizumi is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Koizumi wants to stall.

No, Koizumi has managed to get both his arms back between Gustin's legs - danger averted. Gustin being controlled here, momentarily. Gustin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Koizumi is one step ahead there. Koizumi passes Gustin's left leg - he's now in half guard. Koizumi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Koizumi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Koizumi is keen to just control but Gustin is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koizumi wants to pass the guard but Gustin is defending well. Koizumi is stalling here. Gustin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Koizumi seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gustin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Koizumi regains half guard. Gustin is not content to let Koizumi control the position. Gustin manages to get back to half guard. Koizumi prevents Gustin from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sevket lunges at Penzer with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Penzer's hand. Penzer fails with the takedown. Sevket cracks Penzer's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Penzer slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Sevket can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Donk. Tyson catches Linkki right on the button with a cross. Tyson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Linkki checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Linkki lands a nice hook to Tyson's body. Tyson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Tyson scores with a kick to the body.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seventeen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brandis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Brandis keeping full guard, as Seventeen tries to pass. Seventeen trying to move into half guard but instead Brandis has managed to sweep! Brandis postures up in Seventeen 's guard and throws a big left but Seventeen blocks it. Seventeen pulls Brandis in close to his closed guard and prevents Brandis from doing any damage or advancing position. Brandis stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Seventeen has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no!
