The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Some wild striking there from Carson.
A swing and a miss from Carson. Carson throws a jab when Gomez was well out of range. Danga de danga de dang - Carson scores with a four punch combination! Carson throws a combination. Gomez tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Gomez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carson's waist but Carson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomez off to one side. Carson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gomez is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carson drops Gomez with a big left hand! Gomez is injured, injured bad! Carson jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Wright or perhaps it was just good defense by Kobra which made him look bad. Kobra throws a jab but it's blocked by Wright. A looping hook to the body misses from Kobra. Wright does a little dance to reset his feet. Kobra tries to clinch up but Wright circles away and keeps his distance. Kobra throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kobra tries to clinch up. Wright avoids the head kick by Kobra.

Wright displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kobra throws out the jab. Wright slips a straight right by Kobra. Kobra lands a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kobra misses with a few strikes there.
Kobra darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Wright changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kobra looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wright with the ground and pound but Kobra regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kobra is trying to control but can't.
Kobra is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Kobra keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wright thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kobra's head. Wright not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kobra misses with the combination.
Wright shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Wright drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wright accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wright throwing strikes but missing. Wright landing with the ground and pound. Kobra controls Wright momentarily but Wright frees himself. Kobra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright throws a big right hand that misses. Kobra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kobra loads up on a big right hand but Wright slips the punch. Kobra connects with the punch. Kobra looks to land a left hand but Wright moved out of range nicely. Wright steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kobra. Kobra misses with a looping left. King Kobra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wright walks into a jab. Wright avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kobra loads up on a big right hand but Wright slips the punch. The fight stays on the outside here - Kobra looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kobra stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Kobra wants to clinch. Kobra throws a lazy right hand but Wright sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Horrible takedown by Wright or perhaps it was just good defense by Kobra which made him look bad. Wright ducks under a wild hook from Kobra. Kobra throws a shot from downtown. Wright moves away and avoids it. Wright drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wright working away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wright works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Wright dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wright is working away from the top position though. Wright trying to mount his opponent but Kobra defends it. Kobra holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wright distracts Kobra with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kobra seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kobra is trying to keep Wright in close.

Kobra changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Wright takes a body punch but keeps moving. Good standup being displayed there by Kobra as he connects with a hook. Kobra lands with a thumping leg kick.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Wright. Wright takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sloppy strikes there by Wright. Wright postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kobra is trying to control Wright's posture but Wright avoids it. Wright misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Wright is trying to ground and pound but Kobra uses the momentary lack of control by Wright to regain half guard. Wright thows a huge punch but Kobra dodges it nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jake Wright. I think Wright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Penn ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Penn shoots for a double leg takedown but Stojakovic sprawls well. He's pushed Penn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Penn misses with a double jab

Trevor swats away the attempt to clinch by OToole. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Trevor. OToole wants to clinch up but Trevor keeps it at a distance. OToole tries to clinch up. OToole tries to clinch but Trevor is having none of it. enabling Friedhelm to counter with a crisp jab. cornelius is breathing heavily. No joy there for Friedhelm, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
