The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hopkins tries to keep at a distance but Heartman has taken the fight into the clinch. Heartman crunches a lovely knee into Hopkins's ribcage. Hopkins looks gassed! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Heartman tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Killer tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Killer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Killer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Killer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.

Killer lands a hook that snaps the head of Johnson backwards. Killer avoids a wild elbow strike from Johnson. Johnson letting Killer take a breather here. Killer tries to circle away but Johnson has him pinned against the cage.

Johnson trying to control the position but instead, Killer has worked for underhooks and has pushed Johnson into the cage. Killer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Killer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Johnson lands with a slapping head kick. Johnson lands a big head kick that sends Killer to the canvas! Johnson follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Lee shoots in and bounces Jodan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jodan is trying to control the position but Lee postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee wants to control from the top but Jodan keeps moving. Jodan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

and Lee counters with a left and a right that stings Jodan. Lee gets caught flat footed, as Jodan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jodan advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Jodan stalls from top position. Jodan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lee has escaped the position, nice work there. Jodan sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Lee is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jodan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Lee misses with a low kick.
Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jodan to the mat! Jodan manages to get full guard. Jodan working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.

Jodan is trying to control the action in half guard but Lee is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Lee wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jodan in particular looking to stall. Lee tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Jodan manages to move to mount!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grimm is defended easily by Samba. Grimm will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Samba ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Samba misses with an uppercut. Grimm shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Samba as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Grimm. That's going to take a lot out of him. Samba closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Samba lands in his opponent's guard. Samba controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Samba wants to stand but Grimm has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

John Grimm has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Grimm has his takedown stuffed and Samba counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Grimm's guard now. Samba preventing the sweep. Samba stands up from Grimm's guard - Samba perhaps looking for a knockout.

Samba trying to control but Grimm is having none of it. Christopher Samba is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Samba content just to control the position here. Grimm is trying desperately to improve position.
