Willy Brandon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tama Ginty explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Brandon throws a head kick that misses. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Resende shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lee sprawls well. Lee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Resende gets slowly back to his feet. Resende shoots in but no luck this time. Lee thows a leg kick but Resende checks it and Resende counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lee won't be happy with that. Resende controls the position from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Resende has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Resende seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lee for as long as he can get away with. You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
