The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meechum darts in and clinches Ure up against the cage.

Ure drops back, looking for a kneebar! Meechum looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Meechum looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Meechum!

Meechum really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.

Undercard bout

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jan Ove Waldner (ranked 4103 p4p, 387 weight class) and Gorgeous Bob (ranked 3075 p4p, 322 weight class). Jan Ove Waldner had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Gorgeous Bob enters the cage!

Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Douglass throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Zinsou is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Palonesess is trying to trip Qiang. He has hold of a leg but Qiang is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Palonesess persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Palonesess feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lopez is keen to just control but Opdivo is a slippery customer.
Opdivo is in trouble now - Lopez has advanced to mount!
Opdivo is controlling an arm, preventing Lopez from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Opdivo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lopez.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lopez gets control of Opdivo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lopez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Opdivo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Opdivo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lopez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Opdivo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Lopez has locked up a guillotine! Lopez's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Opdivo is holding on here and Lopez must be using up a lot of energy. Opdivo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Lopez gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
