Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Beecher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 41 - 25 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Romanov!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Beecher.
Romanov throws a poor cross that misses
and Beecher counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Romanov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Beecher counters with a left to the body.
Beecher swings and misses with a hook to the body.
It seemed like Romanov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Alexandr Romanov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beecher scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Beecher swings away with a body shot that misses
and Romanov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Beecher tries a head kick but it misses.
Romanov is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Romanov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Romanov.

Beecher clinches up with Romanov and pushes him back against the ropes.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Beecher obliges.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beecher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Beecher fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Romanov is out of range.
A nice side step and Romanov releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Beecher forces Romanov back against the ropes and clinches.
Romanov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Beecher pushes Romanov back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Beecher works on Romanov's body with a couple of short punches.

Beecher lands a right hand that snaps the head of Romanov backwards.

Beecher lands a left hand that snaps the head of Romanov backwards.
Romanov takes a shot to the head.

Romanov is rocked!
Beecher breaks the clinch momentarily and cracks Romanov with a big right hook that drops him to the canvas! Romanov looks like he might be in big trouble here! The referee has started the count straight away and we're up to 5 already. Romanov get to one knee - can he make it back to his feet? No, he's flopped back to the mat - he's out - this one is all over!

Paul Beecher decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
