The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franco wants to clinch and Daines counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Franco tries to clinch but Daines moves away and Daines counters with a two punch combo. Daines lands a nice hook to Franco's body. Franco takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Franco tries to clinch up and Daines counters with a left and a right that stings Franco. Franco avoids a punch combination nicely.
Franco forces Daines back against the cage and clinches. Daines takes a knee right on the jaw!
That's one minute gone in the round. Daines wants to get back to striking at distance but Franco won't allow it.

It looks like Mike Daines has been cut. Franco unloads a knee to the mid-section. Daines is trying to push Franco away but Franco has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Franco lands a nice elbow. Daines tries to break the clinch but Franco is controlling the position. Franco lands a nice knee to the body. Daines is breathing heavily. Daines takes a knee right on the jaw!

Daines is rocked! Daines takes an elbow to the temple. Oh Daines is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Franco's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Franco's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Franco comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Daines looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Franco lands a hook that snaps the head of Daines backwards. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Franco using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanma lands a nice shot that snaps Rucco's head back.
Baki Hanma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hanma moves into the clinch. Hanma gets through Rucco's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Hanma lands a left hand.
Hanma pulls guard. Hanma is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rucco is aware though and is defending well. Rucco drops back looking for a leg! Hanma is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hanma manages to kick Rucco off! Rucco jumps back into Hanma's guard. Rucco is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hanma is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hanma has escaped and now he's on top! Rucco keeping moving, preventing Hanma from controlling successfully. Rucco looking for a triangle here. Hanma is fighting it but it looks tight! Rucco pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Hanma is tapping out - this one is all over!

Eric avoids a lazy jab quite easily. An attempted straight right counter from Eric misses the target. Eric has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. A big left from Rockwell misses. Nice body punch from Eric. Rockwell throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Eric counter with a right hand. Rockwell misses with a lunging right hand

Eric is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Eric throws a body punch but Rockwell moves out of range. Rockwell catches Eric with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Eric counters with a straight right hand. Rockwell misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Eric counters with a stiff right hand. Eric scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Rockwell misses with an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! That's two minutes gone in the round. Rockwell wants to clinch. Rockwell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Eric. Rockwell shoots for a double leg takedown but Eric sprawls well. He's pushed Rockwell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rockwell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Eric counters with a nice body kick.
Eric is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Rockwell misses with a few strikes there.
As Rockwell looks to move away, Eric throws a big counter combo but Rockwell just gets out of the way. Eric bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rockwell feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Erics jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Rockwell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Eric appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Eric cracks the inside of Rockwell's front leg. Nice shot lands for Eric. Rockwell scores with a sloppy right hand. Eric should have avoided that one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rockwell throws a shot from downtown. Eric moves away and avoids it. Eric takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Eric with a body punch. A glancing blow. Eric moves away from the strike by Rockwell. Rockwell throws a looping overhand right but Eric ducks down to avoid it. Eric staying out of range there. It looked like Eric was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rockwell. Rockwell misses with a takedown and Eric counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rockwell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rockwell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Eric wants to get back to his feet but Rockwell is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rockwell passes into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rockwell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Eric desperately trying to maintain half guard. Eric is defending against the submission attempts here by Rockwell.

Eric pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rockwell throws a combination that misses and Rockwell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
