The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iacomelli swats away the attempt to clinch by Roesler.

Roesler has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Iacomelli is defending well but eventually Roesler manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Iacomelli has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ferkot misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Perez moves out of range of the body kick.
A little jabbing left from Perez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Ferkot really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Ferkot takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Perez works over Ferkot's head and body with a nice combination.
Ferkot attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Perez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ferkot moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ferkot has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Ferkot is rocked!
Perez throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Ferkot's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Perez dives in looking to finish as Ferkot flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Perez's strikes! Perez is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Ferkot's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Ferkot was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Hill on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Hill shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ilmarinen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hill won't allow Ilmarinen to get back to his feet.
Ilmarinen told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Hill stays in close to Ilmarinen's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ilmarinen wants to stand but Hill is controlling the position.
Hill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ilmarinen prevents Hill from improving position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ilmarinen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hill is controlling him well.
We've been hearing good reports from Hill's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Hill tries to advance to mount but Ilmarinen denies him.
Hill in side control lands a decent elbow.

Hill has an Americana. Ilmarinen didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hill is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hill hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
