The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilliam lands a right hook to the body.
Submarine on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Submarine darts in looking for a takedown but Gilliam gets double underhooks and turns Submarine into the ropes.
Submarine throws a series of strikes that have Gilliam backpedaling.
Gilliam misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gilliam throws the left hand but Submarine avoids the punch easily.

Gilliam shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Submarine's guard.

Submarine has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the ropes to get back to his feet. Gilliam has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the ropes.
I was talking to Gilliam's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oh but Submarine is tightening it up a little... Gilliam has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gilliam reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gilliam taps out! Nice BJJ there by Submarine!

Fig gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mountain to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Black Rob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Ralphie Harrell!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rob looking to score a takedown here. Harrell is defending well but Rob drives through and ends up in Harrell's guard.

Rob has gone for a leg lock! Harrell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rob's guard.

Harrell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rob has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harrell has managed to get both his arms back between Rob's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

I've been told that Harrell has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Harrell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harrell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A very excited looking Ralphie Harrell rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
