The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antoski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Nice jab there from Antoski. We've been told by Antoski's head coaches at Guerrilla MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Antoski's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ribbit under the eye. Ribbit throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Antoski to counter with a crisp jab. Ribbit throws a lazy right hand but Antoski sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Antoski is looking for a counter combo. Ribbit ducks under a wild hook from Antoski. Ribbit scores with a jab. Ribbit throws a push kick but Antoski slaps the foot to one side. 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Japa Koniu! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koniu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Impaler. Koniu connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Impaler to the floor! Koniu dives in looking for the finish!
It looks like Vladimir Impaler has been cut. Koniu stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Impaler digs a good hook to Koniu's body.
Koniu throws a low kick, looking for Impaler's leg but Impaler calmly moves out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koniu throws a hook to the side of Impaler's head but Impaler sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Impaler pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Koniu's coach down at St Petersburg MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Koniu's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Impaler defending well as Koniu loads up on a big left hand. Koniu changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. A swing and a miss from Koniu. Impaler was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Koniu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Impaler moves away from the strike by Koniu. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Koniu gets off balance looking for a body kick and Impaler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Koniu throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Impaler to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Koniu tries to work over Impaler's front leg with a kick but Impaler checks it. Impaler seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Good standup being displayed there by Impaler as he connects with a hook. Koniu throws a nice looking combination but Impaler bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Koniu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Koniu avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Koniu throws out a counter right but Impaler avoids it with no problem. Impaler walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Koniu.

Koniu thows a left - swing and a miss! A jab from Koniu finds it's way through Impaler's defenses. Impaler throws an overhand right that lands on Koniu's shoulder, as Koniu tries to avoid the shot.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koniu scores with a decent looking hook. Impaler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Koniu misses the body punch enabling Impaler to counter with a crisp jab. Koniu misses with an uppercut. Japa Koniu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Koniu falls off balance throwing a combination
and Impaler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Japa Koniu dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Koniu. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Impaler waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Koniu. Koniu ducks under a wild hook from Impaler. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Impaler blocks a jab. Koniu jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Koniu does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Impaler swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Impaler throws a good cross that connects.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Impaler walks forward, straight into a front kick from Koniu. Impaler avoids the body shot from Koniu.
Impaler appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Impaler tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Koniu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Impaler was well out of range. Poor timing from Koniu. Koniu has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Impaler misses with a hook. Koniu ducked under it nicely. A good leg kick by Koniu. Koniu misses with a right hand and Impaler makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Koniu takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The cut above Japa Koniu's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Impaler scores with a jab to the body. Koniu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Impaler counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Impaler is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Impaler cracks Koniu with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Koniu throws a wild body kick that Impaler sees coming a mile off. Koniu throws a poor cross that misses
and Impaler counters with a stiff right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Impaler bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Koniu's head backwards.
Japa Koniu's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. A solid leg kick lands there for Koniu.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Vladimir Impaler! Vladimir Impaler was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
