The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Payton connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Staal's hands. We've been hearing reports that Payton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Payton bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Payton scores with a nice strike. Payton tests Staal's chin there with a solid looking shot. Payton throws a looping overhand right but Staal ducks down to avoid it. Staal doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Payton throws a big shot that misses. Staal tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Evan Payton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Staal moves out of range of the strikes. Payton closes the distance and clinches. Payton gets through Staal's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Payton being controlled here, momentarily. Payton controls Staal momentarily but Staal frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Staal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Payton trying to keep a closed guard but Staal is proving a slippery customer.
Payton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Staal got a little sloppy there for a moment and Payton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Staal has managed to get both his arms back between Payton's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Payton has his foot on Staal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Staal works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Staal advances to half guard. Still in half guard, Staal seems content to control. Payton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Staal passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Payton! Staal is in the full mount, landing strikes. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Staal putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Payton tries to hold on but Staal pushes him away.
And that's the end of the fight! Eric Staal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Staal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch lands to the side of Ericsson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Nicu wants to land a leg kick but Ericsson is out of range. Nice shot lands for Nicu. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Nicu - that will leave a mark!
Nicu slaps away a takedown attempt from Ericsson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nicu is looking to slow Ericsson down with leg kicks. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ericsson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ericsson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nicu. Ericsson has his takedown stuffed and Nicu counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Ludvig Ericsson has been cut. Iosue Nicu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ludvig Ericsson.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ericsson shoots in for a double leg but Nicu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ericsson shoots in looking for a takedown but Nicu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ericsson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ludvig Ericsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ericsson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nicu swings for the body but Ericsson moves out of range.

Ericsson misses with a takedown and Nicu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nicu lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Ericsson head around and knocks him out cold! Nicu hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chula lunges at Kenway with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kenway's hand. Kenway throws a head kick but Chula moves out of range.
Kenway connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Some bone on bone action there as Kenway checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Kenway jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Kenway checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Kenway thinks about countering with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chula cracks Kenway with a good jab. Chula misses with a hook. Kenway ducked under it nicely. Chula takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Chula avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chula misses with a straight left. Kenway throws a body shot but no joy. Chula lands an overhand right. Kenway lands with a nice body punch. Kenway avoids the body shot from Chula.
Kenway dips to his left and cracks Chula with an uppercut! Chula misses with a body kick. Jab, jab by Chula - just one landing. Kenway ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Chula moves out of range of the strikes. Chula looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kenway keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kenway tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Chula manages to circle out of the way. Chula takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Kenway feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chulas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Kenway with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kenway tries to clinch but fails miserably and Chula counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nice shot lands for Kenway. Chula looks to score with a jab to the body but Kenway is just out of range. Kenway scores with a head kick. Chula tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Kenway lands a nice hook to Chula's body. Chula takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kenway misses the shot to the body. Chula unleashes a big counter combination but Kenway bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Jab by Kenway. Kenway tries to clinch up but Chula circles away and keeps his distance. Chula tries to score with a low kick but Kenway moves his leg out of the way. Chula looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kenway is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Chula thows a body kick. Kenway tries to catch it but that hurt him. Kenway ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chula moves away. Chula tests Kenway's chin there with a solid looking shot. Chula takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Chula throws a quick inside leg kick. Chula throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Chula throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chula scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Kenway misses the shot to the body. Kenway lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kenway swinging wildly here.

A jab from Chula misses. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kenway throws a leg kick but Chula sees it coming and moves out of range. Kenway throws a leg kick and Chula counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Kenway. Chula does a little dance to reset his feet. Chula lands with a straight right. Kenway didn't see that one coming. Chula misses with a low kick. It looked like Kenway wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Donk. Kenway catches Chula right on the button with a cross. Chula fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kenway has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Kenway fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Kenway buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kenway looks to land a left hand but Chula moved out of range nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edward Kenway. Well Kenway has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big Dog (ranked 621 p4p, 27 weight class) and Dustin Kruger (ranked 244 p4p, 11 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dog might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The 2 Bears - Bear Hug. Kruger is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter The Spingbok Ninja. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dog is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kruger. Kruger throws a quick inside leg kick. Dog falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kruger holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kruger misses with a punch to the body.
Dog tries to throw a body punch but Kruger avoids it by throwing Dog back against the cage. Dog wants to stall.
Kruger lands a shoulder strike. A short right hand to the side of the head by Dog. Dog has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Dog is pushing Kruger up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Kruger lands with a right to the head. Dustin Kruger decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. In defeat, Big Dog stepped up to the mic, saying 'My manager sucks! He doesn't know how to set sliders!'.

30 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudi Dassler! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dassler closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marston to the mat! Marston manages to get full guard. Dassler working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dassler postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marston is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dassler, into his guard.
Dassler is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Marston rolls with it to try and escape but Dassler cranks on the arm and Marston is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rudi Dassler! Rudi Dassler really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Urban Fighter logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
