McLaughlin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alzheimer was well out of range. Poor timing from McLaughlin. McLaughlin slips under a jab. Alzheimer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McLaughlin.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Friedrich Alzheimer. I think Alzheimer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision. Judge Shirou Masuda scores the fight 48:49 Judge Yukihiro Shimada scores the fight 48:47 Judge Sosuke Kotani scores the fight 46:49
In favor of your winner, by split decision... Mike McLaughlin! Mike McLaughlin is the new featherweight champion! Mike McLaughlin spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
