0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jayson Winters! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Usmen looks for a takedown but Winters sprawls well. Usmen looking to score a takedown here. Winters is defending well but Usmen drives through and ends up in Winters's guard. Usmen is stalling in the full guard. Usmen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Usmen landing with the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Usmen landing with the ground and pound. Usmen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Usmen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Usmen scoring with punches to the head and body. Usmen landing with the ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Winters is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Usmen stands up over Winters, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Winters is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Usmen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Usmen scoring with punches to the head and body. Usmen works over Winters with some ground and pound from guard. Usmen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Usmen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Usmen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Winters's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Usmen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Usmen working some strikes from top position. Usmen prevents Winters from getting back to his feet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Usmen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Usmen is stalling in the full guard. Usmen landing with the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Usmen won't allow Winters to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Usmen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Usmen scoring with some ground and pound. Winters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Usmen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Usmen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Usmen with a poor takedown and Winters counters with a lovely straight right hand! Usmen misses with a takedown attempt and Winters counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Usmen. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tylon Usmen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Usmen darts in looking for a takedown but Winters gets double underhooks and turns Usmen into the cage. Usmen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Winters tries to avoid it but Usmen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winters to the ground. Winters escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Winters paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. A right-left combo lands from Winters. Tylon Usmen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Usmen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Winters tries to kick Usmen off but Usmen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Usmen is looking for a kimura but Winters is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Usmen to get the leverage. Tylon Usmen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Winters is trying to stand up here but Usmen is controlling him well. Usmen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Winters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Usmen uses his free foot to push down on Winters's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Winters. Winters is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Usmen with the ground and pound from mount. Usmen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Winters is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nixon has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Nixon thows a left - swing and a miss! Nixon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nixon wants it to stay on the feet. Nixon pushes Onera up against the cage in a clinch. Onera has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nixon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Nixon lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Onera backwards. Nixon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nixon scores with a crisp jab that stopped Onera in his tracks. Nixon throws a body punch but Onera moves out of range. Onera misses the shot to the body. Nixon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Onera was well out of range. Poor timing from Nixon. Onera closes the distance and clinches up with Nixon, looking for a takedown. Onera pushes Nixon against the cage but Nixon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Richard Nixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Onera. A telegraphed right hand from Nixon misses the target. Nixon throws a looping overhand right but Onera ducks down to avoid it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Onera throws a hook to the side of Nixon's head but Nixon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nixon misses with an uppercut. Onera showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nixon.
Onera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nixon swats him away and circles back towards the center. Onera ducks under a wild hook from Nixon. Nixon drops his hands momentarily and Onera takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nixon avoids the head kick by Onera.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nixon takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Onera keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nixon. Onera fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nixon avoids it really well and circles away. Onera avoids the body shot from Nixon.
Nixon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Onera was covering up waiting for the punch and Nixon finishes the takedown easily into guard. Onera pulls Nixon in to control the position. Onera throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Onera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Deadly fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Banes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Nice defenses there by Deadly. A little jabbing left from Deadly on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Banes throws a looping overhand right but Deadly ducks down to avoid it. Deadly throws an off balance right hand
and Banes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
