The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Baba. Those never looked like landing. Baba gets tackled into the cage by Lesnar. Lesnar maintains the clinch. Lesnar has Baba pressed against the cage, preventing Baba from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Lesnar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Baba will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Baba stands up and waves to Lesnar to follow him. A head kick misses from Lesnar. Baba misses with the combination.
Lesnar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Baba jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lesnar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Baba quickly recovers to half guard. Baba is trying to stand back up but Lesnar is controlling him

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Baba looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Baba is keeping busy.

Baba wants to get back to his feet. Lesnar is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Baba has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Lesnar keeps control of the position as Baba tries to break free.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McRobbie slips under a jab from Jackson. A slow jab from McRobbie misses its intended target. Jackson attempts a counter takedown but McRobbie avoids it well and moves away. McRobbie getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
It looks like Jimmy Jackson has been cut. McRobbie throws a looping overhand right but Jackson ducks down to avoid it. McRobbie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jackson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. We've been told by Jackson's head coaches at Drunken Hobo FT - Elite training for the public! that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. McRobbie throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease. Jackson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Jackson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McRobbie. It looked like Jackson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Nice defenses there by Jackson. A looping hook to the body misses from McRobbie. Jackson does a little dance to reset his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McRobbie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jackson.
Danga de danga de dang - McRobbie scores with a four punch combination! Jackson takes one on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! McRobbie misses with a few strikes there.

and Jackson counters with a straight right hand. Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. McRobbie gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. McRobbie is refusing to be controlled, as Jackson sits in half guard. Jackson working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Jackson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McRobbie defends it well. Jackson trying to control the action but McRobbie is working from the bottom. McRobbie is trying to get back to full guard. Jackson throws a strike but McRobbie avoids it easily and moves to full guard. McRobbie controlling the position. Jackson is looking to advance position but McRobbie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McRobbie has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stiles gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Taylor to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Scott Stiles has been cut. Nice shot lands for Taylor. A lazy body kick from Stiles and Taylor counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Taylor ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Taylor scores with a hook to the body. Stiles takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Taylor is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Taylor scores with the left hand. Stiles knows he should have avoided that one. We've been hearing reports that Stiles has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Stiles misses with a takedown and Taylor counters with a nice right hand that sends Stiles toppling to the canvas! Stiles scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Taylor finish him?!
Stiles is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Taylor knocks out Stiles with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Taylor before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Taylor picks up the big W with a huge KO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thift keeps the fight on the outside. Thift with the counter takedown but Holmes avoids it easily. Holmes has been working on his boxing with his coaches at whitey's gym in the buildup to the fight. Holmes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Thift circles away from the clinch attempt so Thift counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Holmes being controlled here, momentarily. Thift postures up in Holmes's guard and throws a big left but Holmes blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holmes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Thift postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thift pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Holmes is keeping the position for now. Thift with a flurry of punches that miss. Holmes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thift on the ground.

Thift lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Thift throws a strike but Holmes avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Holmes is breathing heavily. Thift postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Holmes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Thift throwing strikes from guard but Holmes blocks nicely. Thift keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Holmes's head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thift accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Thift is looking to work some ground and pound but Holmes has wrist control. Thift postures up in Holmes's guard and throws a big left but Holmes blocks it. Holmes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Thift.

Thift working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holmes's head. Thift trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Thift works a leg free and moves into half guard. Thift throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Thift working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Thift working his ground and pound in the gym. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thift connects with a nice short shot to Holmes's temple. Thift working Holmes over with strikes. Thift drops an elbow to the side of Holmes's head. Thift is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Thift working Holmes over with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thift thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Holmes's head. Thift scoring with strikes to the body and head. Thift seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Thift with the ground and pound but Holmes uses the opportunity to regain guard. Thift working some strikes from top position. Thift slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Holmes takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Holmes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thift wants to control but Holmes is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Kim looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Villa has closed the distance and engaged Kim in a clinch.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes throws a body shot but no joy. And Wius tries to counter it with a takedown but Hughes pushes his down on his head and steps out. Hughes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wius moves away from the strike by Hughes. Wius drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hughes defends it well. Excellent takedown into side control there by Wius. You can see the frustration on Hughes's face as Wius controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes wants to control but Wius postures up. Wius is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hughes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. But no, Hughes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wius but great work by Hughes. Hughes controls the position from side control. My spies in 3Band MMA ($800/week) inform me that Wius has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
