Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Zappa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Parker! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zappa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Parker to score an easy takedown into full guard. Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Zappa is retaining full guard. Zappa is controlling Parker's posture. Zappa looking to control.
Parker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Zappa pushes Parker off and scrambles back to his feet.
Zappa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zappa wants it to stay on the feet. Zappa throws a body kick that misses and Parker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zappa won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Parker looks up at the clock and then as Zappa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Parker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Zappa is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Parker in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Zappa tries to buck Parker off but Parker is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zappa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zappa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Parker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zappa keeps working. Zappa is trying to get back to half guard. Parker has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Zappa is landing a low percentage of strikes. That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Zappa will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Zappa tries to free his leg and advance position but Parker is retaining full guard. Ryan Zappa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Busul leaves Dennis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Busul shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dennis eats them both and turns towards Busul to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Dennis has taken the fight to the clinch.

Dennis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Busul looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
