Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Steele tightens his grip and picks Steward up, before dumping him to the ground. Steward manages to land in guard.
Steele is looking to stand up but Steward won't let him.

Steele stands and steps away. Steward gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Steward is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Steele is defending well for now.
Steele creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Gomes comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Thunderstruck . He Man told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man lands a nice shot that snaps Gomes's head back.
Man goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Man looks to score with a jab to the body but Gomes is just out of range.
Good exchange - Man coming out on top.
Man defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomes.
Man lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gomes circles away quickly and effectively.
Gomes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gomes closes the distance and clinches up with Man, looking for a takedown. Gomes pushes Man against the cage but Man circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A nice combination there by Man.
Man works over Gomes's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Man lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gomes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Man swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Gomes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

He Man seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Man avoids it really well and circles away.
Gomes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Gomes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Man can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gomes passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Man is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gomes has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Man!

Man felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Man is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gomes gets his way!
Man staying busy and making it hard for Gomes to control.

Man won't enjoy being in this position. Gomes looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Man is tapping - it's over boys! Gomes picks up the submission victory!

Grimes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Black slips a straight right by Grimes.
Black has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Fresh INC in the buildup to the fight.
Black throws a body shot but no joy.
Horrible takedown attempt by Black or perhaps it was just good defense by Grimes, which made it look bad.
Black fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Grimes on the side of the head.
Sloppy strikes from Grimes. Those never looked like landing.

Grimes wants to counter the offense by Black and move into the clinch position.
Nice uppercut lands for Black. That snapped Grimes's head back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grimes walks into a jab.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch but Grimes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brian Grimes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grimes takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Grimes scores with a shot to the body.
Grimes avoids the body shot from Black.
Black tries to score with a low kick but Grimes moves his leg out of the way.

Grimes lands with a shot to the body.
Black misses with a straight left.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Grimes throws a right and a left that Black avoids nicely.
Black misses with a two punch combination.
Black sizes up Grimes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Grimes takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Grimes gets a clinch.
Grimes lands a right hand that snaps the head of Black backwards.
Grimes lands a body punch.
Grimes throws a head punch that misses.

Grimes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grimes just misses with a punch to the body.
Black lands with an uppercut that bounces Grimes off the cage and back into range.
Grimes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Grimes throws an overhand right that lands on Black's shoulder, as Black tries to avoid the shot.
Grimes lands a nice looking body shot.
Grimes throws a lazy body kick
and Black counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Black is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Grimes doesn't manage to clinch there - Black circles away.
A leg kick checked by Black.
Grimes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vlad Black will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Vlad Black's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Grimes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Black counters with a stiff right hand.
Black shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Grimes pinned against the cage. Grimes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Black.
Grimes leaves Black with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Grimes misses with a series of wild punches.
Black connects with a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Black shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Grimes napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Grimes throws Black to one side and escapes!

Grimes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Black throws a body shot but no joy.
Black takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Grimes thows a left - swing and a miss!
Decent striking displayed by Black there.
Black wants to clinch up but Grimes keeps it at a distance.
Black keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Grimes.
Black bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Brian Grimes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Grimes takes a swing at Black's ribcage but misses.

Oooooh!!! Grimes has knocked Black down with a huge combo! Grimes steps away and waves a wobbly Black back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Black is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Grimes sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Black's defenses. It connects perfectly with Black's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Brian Grimes tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
