The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Struicao feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Slaughter's calf. Max Slaughter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Slaughter drives through with a takedown into guard. De Struicao pushes Slaughter off and gets back to his feet.
De Struicao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De Struicao wants it to stay on the feet. De Struicao lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Slaughter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Struicao sprawls well. De Struicao wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Slaughter gets slowly back to his feet. De Struicao bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Slaughter drops his hands momentarily and De Struicao takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. De Struicao scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Slaughter takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
De Struicao cracks Slaughter with an open hand slap. Good shot there by De Struicao. Slaughter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dominick De Struicao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Slaughter. De Struicao lands a head kick!

De Struicao wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Jab, jab by De Struicao - just one landing. A good leg kick by De Struicao. De Struicao uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. De Struicao lands a head shot. Slaughter looks for a takedown but De Struicao sprawls well. De Struicao is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. De Struicao moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. De Struicao connects with a nice looking jab.
De Struicao fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. De Struicao throws a leg kick which misses Slaughter's front leg but catches the back leg as Slaughter tries to avoid it. Slaughter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and De Struicao counters with a nice uppercut. De Struicao is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Slaughter moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Struicao bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. De Struicao works the jab nicely. Nice shot lands for De Struicao.
Slaughter is rocked! Slaughter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Slaughter is still on wobbly legs! Can De Struicao finish him? De Struicao throws a powerful right kick. Slaughter tried to block low but the kick was high! Slaughter was taken right off of his feet! De Struicao jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dos Santos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Takulai is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dos Santos is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dos Santos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Takulai has escaped the position, nice work there. Takulai tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dos Santos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Dos Santos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Takulai wants to control but Dos Santos postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dos Santos tries to move into full mount but can't pass Takulai's legs. But no, Takulai has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dos Santos but great work by Takulai.

Zeus keeping moving, preventing Midget from controlling successfully. Midget pushes down on Zeus's leg and manages to get into half guard. Zeus makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zeus.

Midget looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zeus is one step ahead there. Zeus has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Midget working for a triangle but Zeus defends it easily.

Midget tries to counter with a takedown but Zeus is quick to defend against it. Zeus lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Zeus misses with a wild body shot. The fighters circling - Zeus throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Midget attempts a counter takedown but Zeus avoids it well and moves away. Zeus feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Midgets jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Midget escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zeus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Zeus is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Dredman Zeus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Midget tries to get back to half guard but can't. Zeus is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Midget's shoulder. That is not cool. Midget tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zeus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Midget is letting Zeus control him for a moment. More stalling from Zeus. Midget tries to get back to half guard but can't. Zeus remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Midget is looking for a sweep. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Justin Midget has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Midget is trying to buck Zeus off.
