Tschibuti is fighting off a takedown attempt but Grominsky is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Tschibuti to the mat. Tschibuti regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Tschibuti is sitting in close to Grominsky's body. Grominsky has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Tschibuti is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Tschibuti is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Grominsky.

Dirkschneider seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Emilienko throws a sloppy head kick and Dirkschneider moves out of range easily.

Dirkschneider shoots in and bounces Emilienko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dirkschneider wants to pass the guard but Emilienko is keeping the position.

Emilienko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dirkschneider defends well.
Dirkschneider looking to sit in guard and control but Emilienko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


The fighters are working up against the cage. Dirkschneider manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Emilienko has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Emilienko throws an elbow but it misses.
Dirkschneider drops down looking for an ankle pick but Emilienko pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Udo Dirkschneider. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Emilienko clinches up with Dirkschneider and pushes him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Emilienko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Emilienko stuffs the takedown attempt from Dirkschneider. Dirkschneider gets slowly back to his feet.
Despite the aggression on Emilienko's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Udo Dirkschneider seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dirkschneider is looking for a takedown.
Dirkschneider wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Emilienko has him pressed against the cage.

Dirkschneider tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Emilienko smiles and moves away.
Dirkschneider swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dirkschneider throws a head kick that misses.
Emilienko is looking for the big counter here.

Dirkschneider shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Emilienko sprawls well. Emilienko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dirkschneider gets slowly back to his feet.

Emilienko lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Emilienko throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Dirkschneider is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

A very excited looking Tschechov Emilienko rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

Miller pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Miller goes for a double leg but Wreaker avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wreaker continues to drive forward.
It seemed like Wreaker was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Wreaker throws out a counter right but Miller avoids it with no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
