The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dirkschneider throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Daizoff drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dirkschneider defends it well. Dirkschneider lands with a kick to the temple. Daizoff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Terris Daizoff has been cut. Dirkschneider shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Daizoff is trying to defend but Dirkschneider finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daizoff is pressing down on Dirkschneider's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Daizoff has his foot on Dirkschneider's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dirkschneider works his way back into a safe position though. Dirkschneider controlling from the top position. Dirkschneider is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Dirkschneider doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dirkschneider manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dirkschneider controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dirkschneider advances to half guard. Dirkschneider is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Dirkschneider's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dirkschneider connects with a nice short shot to Daizoff's temple. Dirkschneider is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirkschneider has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daizoff bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Dirkschneider has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Daizoff off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Daizoff fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dirkschneider manages to avoid it. Dirkschneider throws a right and a left that Daizoff avoids nicely. Daizoff looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dirkschneider throws a sloppy head kick and Daizoff moves out of range easily. Daizoff gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dirkschneider to score an easy takedown into full guard. Dirkschneider wants to pass the guard but Daizoff is keeping the position.

Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lawrence is defending well for now. Lawrence tries to circle away but Torres has him pinned against the cage. Torres connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lawrence's face.

Gustavo is looking to clinch. Gustavo dives in and grabs Buck's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buck pushes down on Gustavo's head and hops out. Buck unleashes a big counter combination but Gustavo bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Gustavo moves out of range of the body kick. Buck misses with the combination.

Gustavo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Buck throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gustavo. Buck throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gustavo connects with a body shot that sends Buck's belly button to the back. Gustavo throws a head kick that misses. Buck moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Buck looks to land a combination but Gustavo avoids it well. Buck swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gustavo looks to land a right hand but Buck moved out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Buck misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Gustavo counters with a good low kick that Buck was not able to check. Buck defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gustavo. A big right from Gustavo misses. Buck slaps away a takedown attempt from Gustavo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Buck lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gustavo backs up against the cage.
It looks like Ricky Gustavo has been cut. Gustavo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buck defends it nicely. Gustavo is breathing heavily. Gustavo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gustavo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buck sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gustavo somewhat. Gustavo throws a leg kick but Buck sees it coming and moves out of range.

and Gustavo counters with a left to the body. Gustavo fails in his attempt to clinch. Buck stuffs the takedown attempt from Gustavo. Gustavo gets slowly back to his feet. Buck fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gustavo doesn't succeed with the takedown and Buck counters with a three punch combo that has Gustavo backing up. Gustavo nods at Buck to acknowledge the strikes.
Gustavo is rocked! Gustavo is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Buck. Oh Gustavo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buck drops Gustavo with a beautiful combination! Gustavo stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Buck is looking for the KO! Buck throws the kick towards the body but Gustavo avoids it. Buck throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Gustavo stumbling backwards into the cage! Gustavo bounces back off the cage towards Buck, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Buck lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Buck celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goodwin scores with a decent looking hook. We've been told by Strait's head coaches at Tycoon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Goodwin digs a good body shot into Strait's ribs. Goodwin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Strait looks to land a right hand but Goodwin moved out of range. Goodwin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Goodwin lands with a nice body punch. Strait lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Goodwin circles away quickly and effectively. Strait sends Goodwin crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Strait is motioning to the referee to let Goodwin up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

McAuliffe tries to move into range but Onyema moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. A shot to the liver by McAuliffe. Beautiful body shot. Onyema moves into range and clinches up with McAuliffe. Onyema pushes off an throws an elbow but McAuliffe leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Onyema escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Damocles Tarver! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Smecker! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A lazy left from Smecker finds it's target. Smecker ducks under a wild hook from Tarver. Tarver misses with a hook. Smecker ducked under it nicely. Tarver throws an overhand right that lands on Smecker's shoulder, as Smecker tries to avoid the shot. Smecker unleashes a big counter combination but Tarver bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Smecker has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Smecker avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Tarver misses with a straight left. Tarver missing with a left hand there. Smecker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Tarver takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

letting Smecker counter with a right hand. A big left from Tarver misses. Smecker throws out a counter right but Tarver avoids it with no problem. Smecker slips a straight right by Tarver. A little jabbing left from Smecker on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Tarver misses the jab. Tarver throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Smecker counters with a nice kick to the body. Smecker digs a good body shot into Tarver's ribs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tarver throws a lazy uppercut
letting Smecker counter with a right hand. Tarver stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A lazy left from Smecker finds it's target. Smecker keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tarver. Smecker throws out a counter right but Tarver avoids it with no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarver misses the jab. Tarver is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Smecker defending well as Tarver loads up on a big left hand. Smecker ducks under a wild hook from Tarver. Smecker looks like he wants to counter punch here. Smecker lands a really nice looking cross but Tarver seems unphased.
Tarver tests Smecker's chin there with a solid looking shot. Jab from Tarver. Damocles Tarver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tarver throws a looping overhand right but Smecker ducks down to avoid it. Tarver just misses with a punch to the body.
Smecker doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Tarver throws an overhand right that lands on Smecker's shoulder, as Smecker tries to avoid the shot. Tarver lands with a right hand. Tarver is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smecker. Tarver connects with a crisp jab. Tarver swings away with a body shot that misses
and Smecker counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smecker throws a low kick but Tarver avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarver thuds a left hand into Smecker's body. Smecker lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Tarver misses with a looping left. Smecker walks into a jab. Tarver is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Smecker misses with the combination.
Tarver throws a jab when Smecker was well out of range. Tarver is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smecker. Smecker throws out a counter right but Tarver avoids it with no problem. Smecker swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Tarver throws a big shot that misses. Tarver throws a jab but it's blocked by Smecker. Smecker throws out a counter right but Tarver avoids it with no problem. Smecker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tarver stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. A big left from Tarver misses. Smecker slips under a jab. Smecker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tarver doesn't seem bothered though.

Tarver connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Smecker slips a straight right by Tarver. Smecker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Tarver misses with a combination
and Smecker counters with a lovely shot to the body. Tarver is breathing heavily. Nice straight punches there by Smecker. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Smecker. Smecker connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tarver's hands. Tarver swings widly with a right hand
and Smecker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Tarver throws a hook to the side of Smecker's head but Smecker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Smecker let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Smecker ducks under a wild hook from Tarver. Smecker is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smecker uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tarver. Smecker takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tarver misses with a left hand and Smecker makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Smecker lands a nice looking body shot.
Smecker scores with a jab. Smecker moves away from the strike by Tarver. Tarver takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Smecker slips under a jab from Tarver. Tarver walks into a stiff left hand from Smecker. Smecker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Smecker misses with a wild combination.
Smecker scores with a jab to the body. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tarver rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Smecker makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Smecker lands a big head kick that sends Tarver to the canvas! Smecker follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
