13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giuseppe Amodei! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edson Bidon Barbosa! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amodei looks to land a left hand but Barbosa moved out of range nicely. Amodei walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
It looks like Giuseppe Amodei has been cut. Barbosa lands a glancing blow to the side of Amodei's head. Amodei tries to clinch up but Barbosa circles away and keeps his distance. Barbosa looks like he wants to counter punch here. Amodei checks the leg kick. Amodei looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Barbosa misses with a low kick. Barbosa swings widly with a right hand
and Amodei counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Amodei has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Amodei wants to control the pace but Barbosa is squirming around nicely. Amodei prevents Barbosa from getting the reversal.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barbosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amodei swivels though and keeps the full guard. Amodei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barbosa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Amodei is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa's corner is telling him to maintain position. Barbosa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Amodei looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Barbosa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Barbosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amodei swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Amodei lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Amodei drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barbosa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Amodei has Barbosa in his guard. Amodei is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Amodei not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amodei throws a lazy uppercut
and Barbosa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Amodei bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Barbosa's head backwards. Barbosa throws a hook but Amodei blocks it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Amodei walks into a stiff left hand from Barbosa.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amodei tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barbosa was well out of range. Poor timing from Amodei. Amodei gets a takedown into half guard. Amodei is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Barbosa still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Barbosa has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Amodei tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barbosa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Barbosa controlling from side mount. Barbosa gets to mount! Amodei was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barbosa wants to take his opponent's back but Amodei doesn't allow it. Amodei slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Amodei looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Barbosa is trying to control. Amodei wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Amodei looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa passes to full mount! Barbosa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Amodei is looking to escape. Amodei wants to hold on but Barbosa pushes him away. Barbosa wants to take Amodei's back here but Amodei is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Amodei might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Barbosa gets his hands free as Amodei looks to control. I really don't envy Amodei right now.

Giuseppe Amodei overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Amodei looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Amodei tries to escape the position.
Barbosa is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Edson Bidon Barbosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Giuseppe Amodei's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Amodei slips under a jab from Barbosa. Amodei throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barbosa's waist but Barbosa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Amodei off to one side. Barbosa lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Barbosa connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Amodei momentarily.

Barbosa is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Amodei misses with an uppercut. Barbosa saw that one coming. Amodei keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Barbosa. Amodei looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Giuseppe Amodei. That's going to take a lot out of him. Amodei wants to clinch.

Barbosa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Amodei can pounce on him.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa dips to his left and cracks Amodei with an uppercut! Barbosa dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Amodei. That did some damage! A jab from Barbosa finds it's way through Amodei's defenses. Amodei scores with a shot to the body.
Barbosa has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Amodei scores with a nice strike. Edson Bidon Barbosa seems to be getting the better of the standup. Amodei has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Giuseppe Amodei's cut is getting worse. Amodei cracks Barbosa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Giuseppe Amodei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Amodei moves out of range of the body kick from Barbosa.
Amodei closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Barbosa has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Amodei throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Amodei seems to be working for a kimura but Barbosa defends the submission attempt. Amodei is trying to work for a kimura but Barbosa is defending well.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the liver by Mayer. Beautiful body shot. The Man scores with a kick to the midsection. The Man will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jab from Mayer. Mayer throws an overhand right that lands on The Man's shoulder, as The Man tries to avoid the shot. The Man pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mayer throws a good cross that connects.
The Man tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mayer was well out of range. Poor timing from The Man. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A chopping leg kick lands by Pate. Patriootti Pate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pate misses with the body kick and Pate takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Patriootti Pate has been cut. Sheven moves away from the strike by Pate. A little jabbing left from Sheven on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. We've been told by Pate's head coaches at FF Forever that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Pate lands a front kick. Pate misses with a left hand and Sheven counters with a nice uppercut. Pate lands a nice looking kick to the body. Sheven takes a step back to recover. Sheven avoids a kick to the body.

Honda kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is E. Honda Stage Theme Extended. Zola has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gorgon Zola was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Honda has a takedown stuffed. Zola with the counter takedown but Honda avoids it easily. Zola throws a nice outside leg kick. Honda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zola's waist but Zola gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Honda off to one side. Honda tries to sprawl but Zola drives through with a takedown into half guard. My spies in Team Beta Fail inform me that Zola has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Zola wants to pass the guard but Honda is defending well. Honda trying to control from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Honda's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Honda has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Honda is working to avoid the ground and pound but Zola connects with a decent elbow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Can circles away quickly and effectively. Can counters with a body kick. Dee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A jab from Dee misses. Can slips a jab from Dee. Dee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Can throws a jab when Dee was well out of range. Dee throws a nice inside leg kick. An inside leg kick lands from Can. Dee uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Can. Can tries to move into range but Dee moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Can closes the distance and clinches. Still in the clinch, Can scores with a nice short uppercut. Can misses with some punches.
Can breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dee misses with a straight left. Can tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A swing and a miss from Dee. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Can wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Can slips a straight right by Dee. The fight moves into the clinch position. Dee tries to throw a body punch but Can avoids it by throwing Dee back against the cage. Dee has a couple of punches blocked by Can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dee goes for a takedown attempt but Can pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Can waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dee. Klay Dee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Can connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dee momentarily.
Dee takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Dee takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Can feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Dee's calf. Can cracks Dee with a right hand to the side of the head. Dee walks into a straight right hand from Can.
Dee is rocked! Look low, kick high! Can uses the oldest trick in the book to send Dee tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Can is absolutely delighted - when Dee wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turner goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. It appears Tripp was looking to counter with a kick there. Turner keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tripp on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Tripp connects with a body shot. A lazy left from Tripp finds it's target. Turner changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Turner scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Turner closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tripp's guard. Turner throws a big right hand that misses. Turner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. This has been an exciting period of action! Turner pushing down on Tripp's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Tripp is trying to get back to full guard. Turner thumps the canvas. Turner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Turner misses with a straight right. Turner punishes Tripp's body with a nice straight punch. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Turner slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Turner.

And that's the end of the fight! Ben Turner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Turner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Sands wants to sweep but no luck. Starker wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Sands's closed guard. He's half up but Sands has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Sands pivots and extends the arm, Starker falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Sands! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Newton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Steven Cold! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cold throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Newton appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Newton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Cold connects with an inside leg kick. Newton with a hook. Cold throws a hook but Newton blocks it. Newton avoids the head kick by Cold.

Cold throws a sloppy head kick and Newton moves out of range easily. Cold scoring well with a low kick there.
A head kick misses from Cold. Newton appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Newton catches Cold with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Cold takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cold uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Newton. Cold throws an overhand right that lands on Newton's shoulder, as Newton tries to avoid the shot. Cold finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cold throws a sloppy head kick and Newton moves out of range easily. Newton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Cold makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Newton really felt that one! Newton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Bill Newton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cold tries to avoid it but Newton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cold to the ground. Cold escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Newton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Newton swings for the body but Cold moves out of range.
Cold let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. A head kick misses from Cold. Newton pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Steven Cold is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Newton fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Newton blocks a head kick by Cold.

Cold throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cold throws a head kick that misses and Newton counters with a shoot takedown. Cold fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cold working a defensive guard here.
Newton tries to free his leg and advance position but Cold is retaining full guard. Cold wants to stand up but Newton is controlling him. He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Newton, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Newton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cold is aware though and is defending well. Cold preventing the sweep. Newton has his feet on Cold's thighs here. He's pushed Cold off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Cold screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
