The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Cotto is looking for a counter combo. Cotto throws a head kick that misses. Cook connects with a solid leg kick. A jab from Cook finds it's way through Cotto's defenses. Cook throws a lazy head kick and Cotto counters with a series of strikes. Cook will be more careful next time no doubt. Cook scores with a head kick. Cotto tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Miguel Cotto has been cut. Cook scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. A right-left combo lands from Cook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A big left from Cotto misses. Cotto gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cotto is rocked! Solomon Cook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cotto walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Solomon Cook! Solomon Cook is the new super heavyweight champion! Solomon Cook spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
